A Friendly Wave Over the Fence!

Just popping in to say hello. Life is bumping along busily here. Children, grocery shopping, snotty noses, soccer games, picnics, homeschool, exploring. Just life. :) Need y'all to continue praying for The GuitarMan. He is continuing with therapy but his index finger is still giving him extra problems. His doctor is out of the country on a mission trip. They have moved his next appt up so that he will be seen as soon as the doctor gets back. We are hoping that the therapy will resolve things before then though and we know for a fact that above all, God can heal! No matter what He is the ultimate one in control. I'll be back on later to do a real post, or try at least LOL. Enjoy your day today. Don't waste it on bad feelings, anger, jealousy, resentment or unthankfulness. You never know, these may be "the good ole days" you look back on one day. It would be a pity to not make the most of your blessings!

Full of Ordinary

I hope it's been a good day for everyone. The GuitarMan came home from college yesterday afternoon and his roommate Z and another friend came today. While he was still asleep this morning we got outside and did a little yard work and let the children play. Cornbread was absolutely adorable out there helping tote limbs. Then he got started chasing his older sisters all over the yard. Well, wouldn't you know The GuitarMan woke up right as we finished? :D What a coincidence! LadyBug enjoyed helping me cook a big pot of chili for lunch. We also got the BBQ ready to take to a Bible study tonight. She loves to cook! We all gathered in the living room to eat and watch a football game. Afterwards I cut The GuitarMan's hair for him. It's gotten pretty long and it is also very curly. So it was getting a little hard for him to do much with it, especially with his hand. Speaking of his hand, it is still improving. Only A Mother Would Know

I got this email and thought it was so cute! Cup of Tea One day my mother was out and my dad was in charge of me. I was maybe 2 1/2 years old.. Someone had given me a little 'tea set' as a gift and it was one of my favorite toys. Daddy was in the living room engrossed in the evening news when I brought Daddy a little cup of 'tea', which was just water. After several cups of tea and lots of praise for such yummy tea, my Mom came home. My Dad made her wait in the living room to watch me bring him a cup of tea, because it was 'just the cutest thing!' My Mom waited, and sure enough, here I come down the hall with a cup of tea for Daddy and she watches him drink it up. Then she says, (as only a mother would know.. :-) 'Did it ever occur to you that the only place she can reach to get water is the toilet?'

Peelin Chicken Nuggets

A friend and I were talking via email the other day about the things you do for your children. I would venture to say that extends to anyone you love really. It got me to thinking and I thought I would share my rambling thoughts with you here. Many times as moms and wives we may do things that we feel go unnoticed. But Proverbs 31 says that we will be blessed and praised for the things we do for our famillies. We may not always feel appreciated for the things we do but we have a promise. When we are faithful in our responsibilities our family will be blessed and will rise up to bless us and praise us. But we need to be careful to not expect that praise to come all the time LOL. Sometimes there are things that we do that no one even notices needs to be done in the first place! *Wiping out the refridgerator. *Vaccuuming yet again. *Vaccuuming under the couch cushions and along the crevices of the wall. *Cleaning the ceiling fan. *Wiping up the crumbs and spills from the countertop. *Ref...

It's That Time of Year Again

I've been seeing a lot of blogs mentioning Fall. It seems that everyone is ready for it. Personally it is my favorite time of year! However every year at this time it seems we have unwanted visitors at our house of the slithery variety. That's right, snakes! They are on the move again this year. I mentioned last week that someone ran over a Diamondback Rattlesnake like this one out front coming from our side yard into the churchyard. Sunday we encountered a Timber Rattler like this one out back behind the shed. He was coming from under some stuff back there across to the woods. He stopped and hung out for a while though right at the edge of the woods. We weren't able to kill it because of where he was laying so I just hope he was passing through! Today The FisherMan killed a Copperhead like this one. He was walking home for lunch from the church and saw it coming into our yard. He went and got a shovel. When he got back someone had run over it so he finished it off. We show...

Protect Your Children!

I was in Wal-mart when I saw a little girl of about 3 go by. She was dressed in pink with blond hair and she was carrying a butterfly net. She was calling for someone repeatedly. I didn't see anyone with her so my shopping came to an abrupt halt and I took off after her. Up and down the grocery aisle she was wandering, calling out...was it Mommy? I couldn't be sure but it was obvious she was alone and vulnerable so I quickened my pace to try to catch up with her. My cell phone began to ring but I ignored it in my quest to catch up. Other shoppers glanced at her as she went by but no one made a move towards her. Most of them looked questioningly at me, obviously trying to figure out if she was mine. Finally I managed to catch up with her. I asked if she had lost someone. She didn't answer but started to walk away. I quickly grabbed her hand and said,"Let's go find Mommy." Her little fingers relaxed in mine and we strolled towards the front of the store. As w...

Glory Bread and Lucky Tomatoes

I have never taught my girls any memorized prayers or blessings, preferring instead to just encourage them to pray from the heart. But recently FlowerChild asked about "that blessing about God is good" and I decided since she had an interest I would teach it to them. So if she happens to mention it at snack time I will help her say it. Well, I noticed she was getting a line a bit off the other day. Instead of "Thank you, Lord, for this daily bread" she was saying "Thank you, Lord, for this glory bread." Glory bread. My, my. From the lips of a babe comes a deep theological truth. We should all be partaking of our "glory bread" and thanking God for it on a daily basis. Yet how many times do we feel hungry and try to fill it with worldly junk food instead of turning to pure healthy spiritual food? We get physically hungry and scarf down empty prepackaged calories. Sometimes it's the Twinkies. Sometimes it's a burger. Usually we walk right pa...
