My Peacefully Chaotic Life

Don't you just love when that happens for it is then that you can be sure God is saying "Look!" He is trying to grab your attention and speak to you. Yesterday FlowerChild made a new discovery, one that has thrilled her to no end and now she can't get enough of it. She realized she can read her Bible all by herself. Every time she finished her work and I had perhaps turned to help her sister or tend to the baby, she grabbed her Bible and started reading. She could not wait to be finished with her studies so she could get back to it. So when she finished she fixed up a little tent out of a blanket in the corner of the room and settled in under it with her flashlight and Bible for her "quiet time." (her w...

You know, as a mother I am sometimes amazed at the words I hear coming out of my mouth. I decided it is high time I started jotting down these wonderful little moments. You know the ones. "It's gonna stick that way!" or "You put what up your nose?!!!" And yes we really had that experience one time which ended FlowerChild up in the ER no less...she decided to break off a piece of wood from our wicker bench and shove it up there! All's well that ends well. She finally started sneezing several hours later as we were STILL in the waiting area and it popped out. We got a lot of curious stares as we all hollered with joy and relief! Well, today's little pearl is a true keeper. Once again, out of sheer coincidence it involves FlowerChild. It's a busy day I have planned today so I thought I would hop on for a quick post while things are relatively quiet. I've only had 3 interruptions since I got online! I posted Sunday but afterwards we had a scare. Just before time to go back to church our dog, Rosie, was bitten on the nose by a snake. Her head swelled to a huge proportion! Poor thing, her nose even split a little at the site of the bite due to the swelling. But she ate and played normally, happy as a lark. By the next day the swelling was greatly reduced and the split was even beginning to heal. Now she just has a little lump at the site with a small white line across it. The FisherMan said he had always heard if a dog has dewclaws that they are more resistant to snakebite. The old wives tales can sometimes be just that, tales. Recently our family was in the car together riding back from the big city on the back roads in our county. It had stormed but the sun was just beginning to peek out. It made for a beautiful scene. White farmhouses stood stark against a purple sky with the sun reflecting on their porches. Farmland stretched out with green fields made all the more green with the rain. Along the way people were going about their normal business. We slowed through a section of the highway. One lady had stopped on the side of the road to check her mailbox. Her face was drawn tight as she perused the stack of envelopes. The house was a tiny one, the yard littered with children's toys. How many bills do you suppose she received that day? It can be so discouraging to try to keep up financially especially when you are responsible for those little lives. For each step forward it seems you get knocked two steps back. Well, it's a beautiful Saturday here and I am so thankful for it. This week has been busy as always. Today will be no different. But for now the house is quiet with sleep and I am enjoying a cappucino and my blog. :) We had to make a run to the hospital in the big city last night because a lady in our congregation was admitted with what they thought might be her heart. When the GuitarMan got in we took off. When we got there I stayed in the car since we had Cornbread with us and he was snoozing away. Being in clergy parking I had a clear view of the hospital and watched the people coming and going. Now y'all know I am a notorious people watcher! I saw the lady's husband enter holding the hand of their absolutely adorable granddaughter. (This child has the cutest little southern accent with these mischievous sparkling eyes) She was obviously so happy with him as they walked and she would gaze up at him every so often in deep conversation as they walked to see her grandmother...

It's a pleasant night. The girls are still awake but they are playing quietly in their room. A Braves game is on which makes for relaxing "background music." Cornbread is going to sleep in my lap as I type. I'm just tired enough to feel contented but not exhausted. Do you know what I mean? I am tired but satisfied with a good, hard day of work. There was a lot to be done around here and much was completed. But it wasn't one of those frantic, go, go , go days either. As I washed up breakfast dishes I noticed two little birds hard at work outside my window. So we watched them build their nest all morning. They are are on a shelf on my carport! At our last house we had bird nests every year on our porch and we all enjoyed watching the little babies. Homeschool started out as always with Bible.
