Frustrated

Ok this post is really irritating me! The GuitarMan had a guitar recital/concert last night and he nailed it! He was awesome!! I have it on tape!! It's on my computer!! I can't get it to upload to my blog!! Either blog!! And I have no idea what to do about it!!! Arghhh! I wondered about adding it to youtube and linking it. But we have dialup so I'm never on youtube so I don't know how to do that. Sigh! Maybe son can help me. In the meantime, if anyone knows what I can do please let me know. I REALLY want to share it with you!

Memory Builders

Please check out the comment section on this post . It just shares some nice memories from some readers and it will make you look back on your own life. As I said in the comments the ordinary happenings of today are the memories of tomorrow! You may be living in "the good ole days!" And have you noticed that the best memories from childhood are usually the simplest little things? Outside cooking in the mud or playing with roly polies and frogs. Playing with your cousins. Eating watermelon outside. Special trips to stay with family. Shopping together. Slumber parties. Jumping in the leaves. Exploring in the woods. Macaroni and cheese. Simple life! I am sitting here thinking back to some of my family and the memories I have. Some make me laugh out loud! I remember staying one time with my Granddaddy and his wife Bessie. I had taken my stereo with me. One morning as I was sleeping the bedroom door was suddenly flung open! The stereo was turned way up to the Oak Ridge Boys singi...

Contented Sunday

Have you met with the Lord today? What a privilege! I am so thankful for my church family. As it was approaching time for service I just looked at my sweet children. One was snoozing away on a friend's shoulder. FlowerChild was happily playing and talking with another friend's precious baby. The baby was gazing up at her and clutching her finger in such a trusting way. What a gift to have so many people who love the Savior, also love our children and want to help point their lives to Him. In my last post I mentioned we had a visit from my aunt and uncle. I really enjoyed seeing them but I found out today what my little ones thought of it. Our Children's Director opens Children's Church time with a bit of conversation and prayer requests followed by prayer. When she asked if anyone had done anything special this week FlowerChild's hand shot up. I wondered what she would say as you never can tell with her! She said we had a special visit from someone and went on to te...

My How Times Change

Well, the day is winding down and a lovely day it has been! The weather was beautiful. especially after all this rain. I opened the windows so we could air out the house. The children enjoyed being outside again although, surprise, surprise they needed a bath when we were ready to come in! The FisherMan got out to do some visiting. Our little nursing home folks were not doing well. We have one man that fell and broke his hip. Two days later his wife fell and broke her hip and her shoulder! They are in very bad shape now. We need to all remember to be thankful for our health! Tonight was so nice! We had a visit from my aunt and uncle. We haven't seen them in....well, I just do not remember when....way too long! I grew up going to their house and spending time there when I was out of school. This is the uncle that little Cornbread is named after. It's actually a duo my son is named for in that my cousin also shares the name. He is off at college so he could not be here. He's ...

Mud Puddles and Shopping Trips

Well, it has rained....and rained....and rained....you get the picture! It did stop long enough this afternoon to take advantage of the soft, wet ground to get some weeding done in the herb garden and the flower beds. The rain makes everything so clean at first but then here comes the mud! Then here comes the mud all in the house! My girls always promise they won't get wet and muddy but then when they get outside they just can't resist. Yesterday they went out in their cute, little rain boots and just had a blast. I told them no getting wet and muddy. "Yes, ma'am" they both exclaimed. Well, I don't even have to tell you how that turned out! But the funniest thing happened. We had corrected them about jumping and stomping in the puddles in the grass because it makes holes and we explained someone could get hurt. Well, it continued anyway. Hmmmm. Mama was not impressed. So I brought them to timeout and we had a life discussion. Now, honestly, I think it would ha...

Random Happenings

I heard something new today. Now my Northern readers will probably laugh at this but my fellow Southerners will most likely say, "Hmmp, never heard of that" just like we did. Have you heard of an 'ice shove' (and that is a long 'o' not shuv the way we would read it)? Well, the winds up north blow the ice from the lakes and form something akin to a snowdrift but it is ice. They had 20 ft ice shoves up in Wisconsin today. It was amazing to see! And in other news, if you hear a strange, random beeping noise that you can not locate here is what you do. First: confirm with the children with you that there was a beep. That way you know you aren't crazy. Next: Look around to see if there may be an unknown smoke detector. Then: Draw others into it. See if they hear the strange noise. Look all over the room. (just as a strictly hypothetical example we will say this is a church. And we'll just say it is after church when everyone is visiting.) So look all over t...

This Is My 100th Post and We're Talkin...

...bathrooms! Somehow that strikes me as funny. You would think I could come up with something a little more profound but honestly looking at the headlines just overwhelms me. There is just so much happening at once! All I can say on that one is everyone better be watching and praying. To say that end time prophecy doesn't matter is to totally disregard much of what God has laid out in His Word. As a parent we do our best to prepare and guide our own children for something they have not experienced. Why do so many people feel so scared to think God would do the same? So many folks either listen to ANYONE proclaiming knowledge on the subject OR they run at the first mention of it. Have you heard the pan out theory? I believe it will all "pan out" in the end. I just do not believe that is how God wants us to look at it. But back to my bathroom. The FisherMan finished up in there and it looks so much better! He cleaned all the mildew up and removed all the old caulking. The...
