Making It Through the Day

Carbonated water, high fructose corn syrup, citric acid, natural and artificial flavors, concentrated orange juice, sodium benzoate and edta (to protect taste), caffeine, potassium citrate, yellow 5, carob bean gum. Or better known as Vault. This is what this tired mom is reduced to. Grabbing a can of Vault to try to jumpstart through the day. I'd really love a nap. (I'm still waiting on that Vault to kick in) Yes, I know that if I got the proper amount of rest and nutrition I wouldn't feel so tired. I know that a burst of caffeine will only make me feel worse later when it wears off. But maybe I won't be so sleepy by then. :) Have you ever noticed that your house gets the messiest when you aren't home? Why is that?

VBS is Here!

Well, we got the first and the hardest day of VBS completed! Yeah! I ran, ran, ran all day long. We were awakened by a monsoon yesterday morning. Oh, it poured!! We had tents set up outside the church for VBS snacktime. They weren't up all the way and were laying flat on the ground. So when the rain let up The FisherMan headed over there to get them up (all by himself - what a job!). He finally came back, soaked and muddy, but victorious having conquered the waterlogged tents. He said it was like trying to raise a waterbed mattress by himself. While he was gone I got dressed, got the children ready and fed them. When he got home and cleaned up we headed out to do our weekly errands. We had to go to the big city and meet up with The GuitarMan. He's not here this week since his church is having VBS too. More about that later! We ate lunch with him and some friends then we went to Wal-Mart. Got groceries and raced home, put away the cold stuff, and raced to the church. I still nee...

Interesting Article

If you are a fan of Rick Warren and the whole purpose driven movement you may not have seen this . Check it out. Rick Warren's latest work involves worldwide charity. Sounds good until you take a closer look at his words and compare it with Scripture. This article does a good job of doing just that.

All About Jesus

We had our last cottage prayer meeting last night. This week will be VBS and the next is revival. What a blessing! Last night's activities ranged from a devotional, prayer time, food and fellowship, lots of it :), Nascar racing, a child's birthday party, horseback riding, a bonfire, outstanding praise and worship music around said bonfire....it was just a great time all around. There were believers, non-believers and backsliders all present but most of all the Holy Spirit was there and He was working. Worship took place! Some Christians think the only way He will show up is if everyone present is a believer and on the right track being "good". But God says when two or more are gathered! If you have people in your life who need a touch from God they are not going to receive it by you withdrawing from them. They have to see Him through you! You don't have to participate in sin in order to live out a testimony and share Christ's love with them. There are many peo...

What's For Supper, Mama?

I had a request to share our menu plans more often but I did not get to it as planned. Sorry! :) So here I am today to give a few ideas. Here is what we had this week. MONDAY Roasted chicken (from the grocery store deli) rice with gravy sliced cucumber biscuits TUESDAY Mexican chicken casserole....made from the leftover chicken (this was a new recipe I tried from the internet - we hated it, it was awful! LOL but I am going to use the sauce part of the recipe to make a whole new recipe - I'll let you know how that goes!) WEDNESDAY tater tot casserole (different from the Duggar version) fresh peas macaroni and cheese sliced tomatoes THURSDAY Wasn't what I had planned but was by special request from The GuitarMan fried chicken (1/2 buffalo wings 1/2 fried chicken legs) french fries FRIDAY (Here again, not what I had planned but we need to eat them up and my girls are going to a special Girls Night for K-6th at a church in another town so no time to cook...they are so excited!) le...

Fruity Pebbles in My Shoes...

....tomato slice in the hallway....crayons in the car window. Ah, yes the life of a parent. When I was thinking of what to name this blog I remembered the time my sweet husband went to put on his dress shoes for church only to feel an odd squish. "Fruity pebbles in my shoes," he said. I thought about naming my blog that LOL. As for the tomato in the hallway, well, that happened this morning. No clue where that came from. And who hasn't had a crayon melt in the window or car seat? I'm all for keeping the house a home but at times it catches up with all of us. Do what you can to keep it sanitary but don't fret too much if the little surprises happen. One of these days everything will stay where you left it and there will be no crayons or kid's cereal to be found in your cupboards. So today if you happen to slip your foot into your shoe only to be greeted by a squish try to see the humour in it. Although if you also have pets and it smells anything but fruity w...

Another Milestone

My babies are growing up! Today my girls both did something that makes them look more grown up. FlowerChild went first but LadyBug did not want to do it. Later on though, once she saw that her sister had made it through, she decided to go for it. They both had their ears pierced! FlowerChild chose large, sparkly pink studs. LadyBug chose little, dainty green studs. They both needed Mama to hold their hand but neither one cried. They look so pretty! Tomorrow we will count 6 weeks out on the calendar so they can see when these earrings can come out. They are already looking at the earring selection to see what they want next!
