Life At Our House

Well, my week is slipping by me...it's already Wednesday! It's been quite a week already! Losing Rosie hit us harder than we ever expected. I know it's harder on The FisherMan for sure. She would follow him over to his study at the church every day and sit patiently by the door until he came home. She was such a faithful companion. The GuitarMan has had a friend staying here this week. It's a guy from his school and they have the band together. You can hardly walk through the house for the guitars, wires, Dorito bags and Dr. Pepper cans LOL! We've had a house full between them and more friends piling in. They're going to head out today for the beach for a couple of days. So it will probably be way too quiet now! :) I've finished two loads of laundry so far this morning (that was just bath towels!) and have many more to go. Sigh. Many, many....many more. :oP Gotta get in some homeschool time. We homeschool year round. It keeps FlowerChild on a better schedule...

An Addition To The Sidebar & Sad News(updated again)

I added a section for recipes to the sidebar. For now the only ones on there are recipes that I have already blogged about so if you are a regular visitor here you've seen them. They're old news! ; ) But at least now they are grouped together in one spot. I'll be adding to it as I can, too. Also say a little prayer for our little stray-that-never-went-away Rosie as well as our children. She got hit by a car tonight. The guy that accidentally hit her goes to our church and he stopped to let me know. It was a freak thing. The FisherMan had to leave for the hospital ER tonight with a family from our church whose daughter had an accident. We had a church singing tonight. A friend brought us home so we wouldn't have to walk in the dark. (ironic since a few minutes later I was wandering around in the dark looking for her) Usually by the time we get home there is no one at the church. She got all excited when we got here and apparently headed for the church looking for my husb...

Just a Little Update

**If you are here because I have something for you, scroll down. :) Thanks so much for praying for us! My little ones seem to be doing better. Cornbread's appetite has picked up some and I am so thankful! He had lost some weight when we went to the doctor. He's already so small there just isn't much on him to lose! FlowerChild is not having all the pain now so that is good. We spent the day yesterday working around the house. I have had sick children for the past month and it showed! And we found out around midnight Friday night that we would be having overnight company coming in Saturday afternoon. So I had to get on the stick and move! It didn't have to be perfect but I was hoping for at least "welcoming!" Once I had the house in a little better order I headed outside where The FisherMan was at work in the garden. We got the whole thing weeded and fertilized. Wow, I can feel it this morning! We fried fish outside for supper. Some friends of ours have a fis...

Just Can't Stay Away

From the doctor's office, that is! We made our weekly visit today LOL! Not really but it does feel that way sometimes. FlowerChild went the first of the month with her ears. LadyBug and Cornbread went last week, him for a checkup, her for bronchitis. Last night FlowerChild was up for hours crying with her ears hurting. Another double ear infection! It was a pretty severe infection from the way our doctor acted when he examined her. He is such a sweetie. I don't know if he would like being decribed in such terms....he has all boys and loves to hunt, etc. But he truly is so kindhearted and my children think the world of him. (even if Cornbread did crawl under the chair and hide, just still as could be - it was so cute!) The doctor checked Cornbread's ears since he has been sick with the same cold. He had an infection in one ear. Arghh...I hate for my babies to be sick! Babies meaning any of my children! So everyone has had their antibiotic now. It's late and they are win...

Going Through A Trial?

Are you facing some tough situations right now? I know things aren't easy for some of my readers. I came across this quote and thought I would share it here. Though we may not know what trials wait on any of us, we can believe that, as the days in which Job wrestled with his dark maladies are the only days that make him worth remembrance, and but for which his name had never been written in the book of life, so the days through which we struggle, finding no way, but never losing the light, will be the most significant we are called to live. Robert Collyer I love that! The bad times are not just a time to grit your teeth and make it through just waiting for it to be over. No, these are days of significance that may very well be the most important days of your life! We never know what each day may hold, may it be good or bad. Your trial may be your health, your relationships, loneliness, finances, or any number of things. You may very well be at the end of the trial and not even know...

Beware, I'm Just Ranting

So is everybody else all mixed up this week thanks to the holiday Monday? I did errands yesterday instead so I feel as though today is Tuesday. I'll have to keep reminding myself it is Wednesday so I'll get everyone fed and dressed for church tonight. I don't guess it would look so good for the pastor's wife to forget church LOL. Did the dreaded grocery trip yesterday, too. There I was praying my way through the store trying to fit everything into the budget. I came to the steel wool section and was debating whether I could afford to buy SOS pads this week. Yes. You read right SOS pads. So anyway this woman comes up beside me and we are both studying the shelf. I strike up conversation by mentioning they apparently do not sell the storebrand or Brillo brand anymore, only these lavender SOS things and the huge boxes (the most expensive ones, natch). She agrees and says that they indeed are not selling a variety anymore and not the ones she likes to buy. She liked the min...

Books ARE Life!

For everything and everyone in life, it seems you can readily find a parallel in books. I suppose that is fitting because most authors of fiction will gladly admit that life itself is their greatest inspiration. Whatever the personality, whatever the lifestyle, whatever the problem......it can be found in a book. Little boys fancy themselves to be Tom Sawyer or Huck Finn. They might picture themselves smack in the middle of Robinson Crusoe. Adventure is the name of the game. Girls may see themselves in the characters that Louisa May Alcott or Jane Austen conjured up. Who hasn't lost themselves in a book whether it be Heidi, Gone With the Wind or Wuthering Heights? Of course, we can't forget the Little House on the Prairie series. There are so many classics to compare your own life to! Wondering which book or author seems to capture the essence of my life? Well, actually it isn't any of those listed above although it is a classic. You may be surprised to know that the book I...
