An Addition To The Sidebar & Sad News(updated again)

I added a section for recipes to the sidebar. For now the only ones on there are recipes that I have already blogged about so if you are a regular visitor here you've seen them. They're old news! ; ) But at least now they are grouped together in one spot. I'll be adding to it as I can, too.

Also say a little prayer for our little stray-that-never-went-away Rosie as well as our children. She got hit by a car tonight. The guy that accidentally hit her goes to our church and he stopped to let me know. It was a freak thing. The FisherMan had to leave for the hospital ER tonight with a family from our church whose daughter had an accident. We had a church singing tonight. A friend brought us home so we wouldn't have to walk in the dark. (ironic since a few minutes later I was wandering around in the dark looking for her) Usually by the time we get home there is no one at the church. She got all excited when we got here and apparently headed for the church looking for my husband after we walked in the house. For now, The GuitarMan is playing tonight for a church in town. The FisherMan hasn't gotten back yet. I found Rosie. She's up in the woods but I can't get to her and she can't get up. So I am waiting for one of them to get home to help me. I haven't told my girls yet. I am trying to convince myself that it's because I don't know how bad it is. It's really because I can't stand to see them get upset. I am a big old softie. Sigh.

Rosie is back now. Obviously I told the girls what happened although I didn't go into detail as to who, when, etc Here are the injuries that can be seen at this point. She has a small gash on her left front leg and a large gash on her right as well as several scrapes. Her back leg appears to be badly broken. The vet is doing cattle but he has sent medication to sedate her so we can transport her to his office. It doesn't look too good at this point.

Well, I was right it wasn't too good. They had to put her down. The girls understand that sometimes animals don't make it after being hit by a car. So they are handling it ok. Poor little thing I just hate it had to happen that way. She had such a rough life before showing up here, she just recovered from a snakebite a few weeks ago and now this had to happen. She was a great dog and extremely loyal. She had a lot of Weimaraner in her (we suspected and the vet confirmed) so I don't know how much of that was breed and how much was because we took her in. We sure are going to miss her.

The Season of Pregnancy (updated)

I know. I have been neglecting this blog. Horribly. That's not the only thing that has been thrown by the wayside lately! It is only for a season though. Pregnancy means you must be patient with yourself and accept that sometimes you must let things slide. That also means that you have to plan in order to conserve your energy. I know if I am going somewhere later today then I don't need to rush around and try to get a lot done in the morning. Priorities must be in order. Although the morning sickness is better it isn't totally gone at this point. Whoever named it that anyway? The main thing I have been dealing with is fatigue. My blog shows it. My laundry shows it. My house shows it. Ack, everywhere shows it! I simply do not have the energy to do the bending up and down required to truly clean up, do laundry, and the vacuuming/sweeping etc. It's quite depressing actually! So I do a little here, do a little there. I manage the necessities such as homeschooling, cooking, ...

Latest on GuitarMan

I haven't made a practice of sharing photos with a full facial view on here. However the GuitarMan isn't too worried about that LOL! With many of you praying for him I thought you might like to have an idea of who he is. He is still in a lot of pain. His fingers are all black and blue and his entire hand is swollen. His hand is cut straight across his fingers and across the bottom of his hand. Once again, very obvious what could have happened. He's blown away by everyone caring and checking in him and the prayers on his behalf. He says to thank you all!

Power Bills

We lucked out last month on our power bill. We received a credit on our bill which helped tremendously. A lot of folks were shocked at how high their bills were, however. I can't blame them! Some of the figures I heard were outrageous! $500-600, one even $1200! One thing that got me was that many of these people work outside the home and their children are in school or daycare so the house stands empty all day. Not only that, but their families are much smaller so things like the washer, dryer, or stove would not be used as frequently. Shouldn't their bill be lower than ours? I think it has everyone trying to come up with ways to save on power. There are some things that are a given. Good insulation and windows go a long way towards helping lower a bill. When we first moved into our home the windows were very old. Some were cracked or even broken. The church eventually replaced them which was a huge blessing! But what were we to do in the meantime? Well, one way is to buy th...
