Life At Our House

Well, my week is slipping by me...it's already Wednesday! It's been quite a week already! Losing Rosie hit us harder than we ever expected. I know it's harder on The FisherMan for sure. She would follow him over to his study at the church every day and sit patiently by the door until he came home. She was such a faithful companion.

The GuitarMan has had a friend staying here this week. It's a guy from his school and they have the band together. You can hardly walk through the house for the guitars, wires, Dorito bags and Dr. Pepper cans LOL! We've had a house full between them and more friends piling in. They're going to head out today for the beach for a couple of days. So it will probably be way too quiet now! :)

I've finished two loads of laundry so far this morning (that was just bath towels!) and have many more to go. Sigh. Many, many....many more. :oP
Gotta get in some homeschool time. We homeschool year round. It keeps FlowerChild on a better schedule so she always knows what to expect and this way we can take a day for other things when we need it.
Gotta get in some RUN time for the children. Cornbread slept all night last night!! He walked ten thousand miles yesterday all around the yard. At least it probably felt like it to him....he was a little energizer bunny! Got his first little skinned knee and never even cried.

So I have to run now and get back at it. I'll try to post something a little more profound sometime. :)

  2. Kris,
Routines are great! It's been hard around here because the laundry room is outside. Now that Cornbread is mobile I have to fit in time for the washing. Also since the children have had so much sickness over the last month that has made it hard to keep up too. But I am working away on it and once I get it all caught up hopefully I can create a new routine that will fit. :)

The Season of Pregnancy (updated)

I know. I have been neglecting this blog. Horribly. That's not the only thing that has been thrown by the wayside lately! It is only for a season though. Pregnancy means you must be patient with yourself and accept that sometimes you must let things slide. That also means that you have to plan in order to conserve your energy. I know if I am going somewhere later today then I don't need to rush around and try to get a lot done in the morning. Priorities must be in order. Although the morning sickness is better it isn't totally gone at this point. Whoever named it that anyway? The main thing I have been dealing with is fatigue. My blog shows it. My laundry shows it. My house shows it. Ack, everywhere shows it! I simply do not have the energy to do the bending up and down required to truly clean up, do laundry, and the vacuuming/sweeping etc. It's quite depressing actually! So I do a little here, do a little there. I manage the necessities such as homeschooling, cooking, ...

Latest on GuitarMan

I haven't made a practice of sharing photos with a full facial view on here. However the GuitarMan isn't too worried about that LOL! With many of you praying for him I thought you might like to have an idea of who he is. He is still in a lot of pain. His fingers are all black and blue and his entire hand is swollen. His hand is cut straight across his fingers and across the bottom of his hand. Once again, very obvious what could have happened. He's blown away by everyone caring and checking in him and the prayers on his behalf. He says to thank you all!

Power Bills

We lucked out last month on our power bill. We received a credit on our bill which helped tremendously. A lot of folks were shocked at how high their bills were, however. I can't blame them! Some of the figures I heard were outrageous! $500-600, one even $1200! One thing that got me was that many of these people work outside the home and their children are in school or daycare so the house stands empty all day. Not only that, but their families are much smaller so things like the washer, dryer, or stove would not be used as frequently. Shouldn't their bill be lower than ours? I think it has everyone trying to come up with ways to save on power. There are some things that are a given. Good insulation and windows go a long way towards helping lower a bill. When we first moved into our home the windows were very old. Some were cracked or even broken. The church eventually replaced them which was a huge blessing! But what were we to do in the meantime? Well, one way is to buy th...
