Latest on GuitarMan

I haven't made a practice of sharing photos with a full facial view on here. However the GuitarMan isn't too worried about that LOL! With many of you praying for him I thought you might like to have an idea of who he is.

He is still in a lot of pain. His fingers are all black and blue and his entire hand is swollen. His hand is cut straight across his fingers and across the bottom of his hand. Once again, very obvious what could have happened.

He's blown away by everyone caring and checking in him and the prayers on his behalf. He says to thank you all!

  1. I sent him a message on a social networking site this morning and he said he felt ok and that he was on a lot of good meds...lol. :P
I know he's feeling ok b/c he made a joking comment on something I had earlier posted.
So glad to know he's still in good spirits and is feeling ok in spite of all that's happened?
Any updates on school and the other "ifs"?

  3. Mama Hen,
Yeah, he tried staying off the meds during the day since they make him so sleepy but that didn't work! He has an amazing attitude about everything! We are still working on handling everything at the school. We'll see how it turns out. :)

  6. Wow! I read about what happened to your son and that must be entirely too scary for y'all. I'll definitely keep your GuitarMan in my prayers. Hope he feels better soon!

  7. Kirsten Erin,
Thank you for your prayers! Yes, it was definitely scary but God creates purpose in everything that happens. We are just so thankful that he still has his hand, still has his life! And he will once again praise God through his music. Praise Him for His mercy!

  8. Mary,
Yes, we have definitely had our share of bumps in the road. And obviously a blog can only share just so much of it! I am thankful to know that so many are praying for us and God is still on His throne!
PS. Mama thinks he's pretty doggone handsome, too! :)

  9. Oh my goodness! last time I checked on here you were the sick one. Looks what missing a couple days will do! I'll certainly add Guitar Man to my prayers. Isn't it amazing when the Drs say It had to be a miracle! Love to hear that. :) Prayer and faith can do powerful things. I know God has some great things in store for your son.

Thanks for coming by my site and posting and poking me!

  10. Thanks patty
Yes it is something to hear a doctor state "miracle" and it is even more so to see his hand for yourself. So shocking still that the only injury was his hand! Folks can't believe that no one else was hurt and he doesn't have a scratch on him. It was just the guitarist's hand of all things! But he will be the first one to tell you that God allowed it so there is a reason for it. I'm really proud of the attitude he is displaying through this.

  12. Michelle,
    Aw, you are so sweet!

LOL I'll tell you something funny that happened recently. We were out and there was this really nice looking young guy there and every time I glanced up at him I thought he was my son. The children did too. I told my husband, "Well, I'm officially old now." He asked why. I said,"Because there's a hot guy and all I can think is oh, he looks like my baaaby!"
Ha, ha don't worry, I don't make a practice out of lusting after young guys though, it was just funny.
    Really! :oD

I've been thinking about you and I'm hoping you get your results back quickly!!

  13. You have a handsome son : ) Reading about him makes me think about my son...who is also a guitar man. He injured his finger a few years back and we worried he wouldn't be able to play the guitar very easily anymore. It healed very nicely though and he's back at it.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving such a nice comment ; )

  14. Just Me,
That is so encouraging to hear of someone else who has faced this and come through to play again! Thank you for sharing that! :)
I'm sure your son can relate to how depressing it is to be unable to play. So hard for a music lover. Blessings to you!

The Season of Pregnancy (updated)

I know. I have been neglecting this blog. Horribly. That's not the only thing that has been thrown by the wayside lately! It is only for a season though. Pregnancy means you must be patient with yourself and accept that sometimes you must let things slide. That also means that you have to plan in order to conserve your energy. I know if I am going somewhere later today then I don't need to rush around and try to get a lot done in the morning. Priorities must be in order. Although the morning sickness is better it isn't totally gone at this point. Whoever named it that anyway? The main thing I have been dealing with is fatigue. My blog shows it. My laundry shows it. My house shows it. Ack, everywhere shows it! I simply do not have the energy to do the bending up and down required to truly clean up, do laundry, and the vacuuming/sweeping etc. It's quite depressing actually! So I do a little here, do a little there. I manage the necessities such as homeschooling, cooking,

Power Bills

We lucked out last month on our power bill. We received a credit on our bill which helped tremendously. A lot of folks were shocked at how high their bills were, however. I can't blame them! Some of the figures I heard were outrageous! $500-600, one even $1200! One thing that got me was that many of these people work outside the home and their children are in school or daycare so the house stands empty all day. Not only that, but their families are much smaller so things like the washer, dryer, or stove would not be used as frequently. Shouldn't their bill be lower than ours? I think it has everyone trying to come up with ways to save on power. There are some things that are a given. Good insulation and windows go a long way towards helping lower a bill. When we first moved into our home the windows were very old. Some were cracked or even broken. The church eventually replaced them which was a huge blessing! But what were we to do in the meantime? Well, one way is to buy th
