Slow Blogging, Busy Life

It's been a slow week for blogging around here. It's been all I could do to just keep up at home LOL! Between homeschooling, sick little one, doctor visit, and just normal keeping the home duties I have been on the go. Oh, and throw in a bushel of peas that needed to be shelled and put up, whew! With the homeschooling, well we just dive in each day and try to accomplish as much as possible. Right now we are still getting in the groove of completing seatwork and creating a routine. But I hope to start adding in some extra fun activities to enhance their learning opportunities. It's going well and it's pretty neat to see the younger ones absorbing what the older ones do. For instance, you haven't seen cute until you see a 15 month old stop what he is doing and come stand with his hand over his heart as the pledge of allegiance is done! Speaking of Cornbread he is still improving. He is still not himself but he is better. The rash has faded this morning. He is drinking...

Then and Now

I had the privilege today of being in chapel at my son's college. He made it into the male chorale and they are singing in chapel this week. Since Cornbread had a doctor appt we left a little earlier and managed to squeeze in both. It was absolutely beautiful! I always cry anytime I see The GuitarMan perform. I thought maybe this would be different since it was a larger group. No way! I still teared up and had to force myself to not cry! I have teased him and said that one day he will be rocking out on a stage and people will wonder about his weird mom crying as he celebrates the Lord with some upbeat praise song! I guess it's not really teasing though because it is probably true LOL. Today we sat towards the back on the right. We were there with our young children and we wanted to be able to slip out if necessary. (It wasn't) But many years ago on a cool night we were there with our young son attending the Spring Concert. We were way down at the front on the left and could...

Need Your Opinions, Please

I think I had mentioned the other day that I took Cornbread to the doctor for fever. That was the only definite symptom he had other than little abnormal tummy issues. He has run fever for 4 days and has just felt so bad. Irritable, no appetite at all. He was just pitiful. At first (Thursday) the fever was low grade so since he was cutting a tooth I attributed it to that. But then it went to 102 Friday morning so I went ahead and scheduled an appt. The doctor we saw was not our usual doctor but she checked him for flu (negative). So she said it was a stomach virus. I wasn't so sure about that. Well, I think I have diagnosed him now. I am pretty sure it is Roseola. His fever broke today and then he broke out in a mild rash. Hopefully it will stay mild! As soon as the rash started to spread he started to feel better. He ate supper and has been running around playing and talking. He is even asking for Daddy now, too. He will be home from church soon and will be glad to see his littl...

The Magic Touch

Well, I had grand plans for today, but I should have known better. I was going to get up early and steam clean my carpets and straighten up a bit. Then I was going to go outside and do some work while I caught up on laundry. The GuitarMan is on his way home and we are having some friends of his over this afternoon to cook out. Then he and Z are doing a concert tonight at a local church. We are hoping to go but I'll have to see how Cornbread is doing. I had to take him to the doctor yesterday with fever. So anyway. I got up with no problem. I straightened up with no problem. Then I broke the vaccuum cleaner. Literally. The handle broke off in my hand! Then I tore up the steam cleaner. I'm a little afraid to approach the washer or dryer. I'm a lot afraid to approach the gas grill. I offered to blow the driveway off for The FisherMan. He said to go ahead, he's been hoping for a new gas powered blower anyway. Very funny.

Come here, You Sweet Thang, You

Just some thoughts upon seeing a woman's tatoo today. She leaned across a counter and her top slipped up showing her lower back where the words "Sweet Thang" were scrawled across it. She had various other tatoos as well and honestly was a very well put together, attractive woman, albeit a bit immodest in her clothing choices. :) Now. I am going to just tell you exactly what popped in my head. Ready for honesty on a touchy subject? Here goes. Ok, I'm not really going to say anything about the right or wrong aspects of tatoos. Sorry, fooled you, right? :) No, actually the first thought that popped in my head was a picture of what she might look like as a little shriveled up 90 year old woman in the nursing home with that across her backside! Can't you just see the little woman in the hospital gown with the open back who always manages to escape? There she goes wandering down the road with her tatoo shining as the aides chase her down! I always wonder about that! You...

Back At It!

My posts have lagged behind a bit this week and for that I apologize. We started back to homeschooling Monday and it has been soooo busy! Now that FlowerChild is in 2nd grade and LadyBug is in Kindergarten we have had to readjust our learning time to accomodate the material and learning styles. I haven't ordered the new curriculum I want just yet. I am waiting on The FisherMan to have time to look it over. To be perfectly honest he has zero interest in it and has total trust in my decisions in this area. But still I trust his judgement also. He knows me so well and can sometimes notice things that I might not. I want to use Heart of Dakota but I keep wavering on Math curriculum. Singapore? Horizons? Saxon? I lean towards a combination of Rod and Staff and Horizons. There is so much to choose from out there! For now I have enough I can use until I make a firm decision in the coming weeks. It has been an up and down day. Poor FlowerChild had a rough time this morning and let her feel...

On the Go

I am feeling the effects of a busy week so as I sit here and type I am also yawning like crazy! Hopefully I make sense as I ramble for a few minutes. Yesterday was a go-go-go day. It was our first day back in school. We also had errands to run, groceries to buy and we found out quite incidentally that it was the last day we could sign FlowerChild up for soccer. So we had to also squeeze that in. Plus The FisherMan had a meeting to attend up in town last night. We managed to get her registered for soccer and she is on cloud nine about it. It makes me happy to see her so tickled about it but honestly, for the life of me, I just don't get it! I tend to agree with LadyBug....she says she might would want to play "if maybe dey would walk a little more and not have to wun so much!" Yeah, what she said! All that running just to have someone dive in and kick the ball away from you and off you go again! Today was school again, of course. Then we took off to go find cleats as she ...
