Thank Him for the Delays in Life

Home! It feels so good to be here! It's been good day and a good evening but a tiring time overall. let me tell you about it. We took the children fishing this morning. They had a blast! I will share pictures on both blogs when I get them off the camera. We were all hot and tired when we made it home. After a shower we headed to the big city to do a little birthday shopping for Cornbread. Now when I say "a little" I meant that we would get it all done but not go overboard. So I had several places I wanted to go. Ya'll. Let me tell you. I went to one store. One! It was Toys R Us. I found a few toys I liked. Then we just browsed a few minutes. Well, we've been on the lookout for a playhouse of some kind for the girls. This store had a Victorian playhouse that blows up and has the the little motorized pump attached (like the big waterslides and ballpits you can rent). It was on clearance cheap cheap! FlowerChild's birthday is coming up in June. So we ...

What Counts?

Well, my week has not slowed down! Cornbread has not felt so well for a couple of days now. Yesterday he had to be held all the time. Today he ran fever. I think he is just cutting a tooth but I am keeping a close eye on it. Today I had an eye appointment. I am years overdue! My prescription is all wrong since my eyes have changed quite a bit. I knew that much! But hopefully the new glasses will help. He did tell me I may find I have to take them off to read. That is a new one for me! Sigh, one step closer to bifocals! Everything I told you about in a previous post is still waiting to be done. I am not a clean freak by any means but I do love for the house to be in order. I love to smell candles and potpourri. And bleach. I know, it doesn't quite fit in with that but there it is. You know those little lines the vacuum cleaner leaves behind when your carpet is nice and fluffy? yep, love'em.. My ladies class will smile at this next one. I absolutely love to see my towels all fold...

Are You a Supermom or a Super Mom?

There has been a trend in women that has seemed to grow and snowball throughout the years. I suppose the temptation to be able to be the best at everything lies within all of us. However with the dawn of feminism a new sort of perfectionism reared it's head and it has permeated society with a vengeance. It is the 'supermom' mentality. Supermom can do it all. She can bring home the bacon and fry it up in the pan. She will be well respected and indispensable at work. In her smart business suit and heels she can still manage to chase down toddlers, cook gourmet meals, and keep a perfect house. Her children will be smart and well behaved. Even better, she can morph to fit different expectations. If she does not work outside the home Supermom can be the carpool queen. She will simultaneously manage to get 4 kids to opposite corners of the city at the same time for their various practices and games. She will tirelessly volunteer at school whether it is room mother or PTA presiden...

I'm Still Around :)

My week is flying by and I haven't even posted! Sorry about that! I have been on the go and I have been working a little at a time on a post for women. Monday afternoon I had to make a run to see The GuitarMan. We got together with friends that night for supper and by the time I got the children to bed I was ready for sleep myself! Tuesday evening I made the Wal-mart run. Everything wound up costing much more than it should have so that was nerve wracking. I have decided that I have a love-hate relationship with Wal-mart. Once again I was just so tired last night. So I have the other post I am working on. Hopefully I will have it done soon. For now I have a pile of things to get to. Homeschooling to be completed, laundry (all of it is waiting), bake bread and something sweet, dishes, sweep and mop, clean the carpets and that doesn't include the general picking up that needs to be done. Still need to start preps for supper, too. Whew! I think I mentioned in a previous post that...

Great News!

My little man took his first steps tonight! Typical of Cornbread he had a big smile on his face the whole time! He'll be running before long....what was that I said about increasing my activity level naturally with the children? Won't be long now! :)

Work Together, Play Together, Eat Together

We spent a good portion of the day outside yesterday. I could tell it was going to be one of those days that FlowerChild would need some extra movement! So we started our outside portion of the day by cleaning up the mess a pack of wild dogs made when they got in our trash. It was scattered throughout the yard just everywhere! There was no need in the FisherMan having to face that when he came home. We made short work of it by seeing whose bag would fill up first. (FlowerChild's idea, not Mama being sneaky, I promise!) Then we played soccer. It was a good way to emphasize family works together and plays together. It was also a fantastic way to show me just how out of shape I am! Oh, my word, my legs got heavier and heavier as we went! I totally concur with LadyBug...soccer would be fine but why can't they walk? Just an ambling little shuffle up and down the field? Perhaps stopping along the way to examine a dandelion or two? Later on in the afternoon the girls played in the lit...

Jump On That Wheel and Hang On!

Well, my brain is running like a little hamster on a wheel. Do you know what I mean? It's so full of thoughts that I don't know what I even want to post about! So how about we just pretend you are here at the house and we'll sit down with a glass of sweet tea and just visit! We had a lovely Easter with church family and friends. We got to see our 'daughter' for a good long while. She and I had a great visit and enjoyed eating our strawberry cupcakes and chatting at the kitchen table. :) This was the first Easter that The GuitarMan did not worship with us. He is playing lead guitar in a praise band at a church in another town. I am so proud of him and happy for him. He loves music so much and to see his talent blossoming and being used to glorify the Lord is awesome for me as a mom! Incidentally, the pastor and my husband went to college together and I taught his son in Pre-K. Oh, let me brag for a minute! We asked The GuitarMan if his guitar professor had anything t...
