What Do You Want to Be?

I had a conversation with a preschooler recently that really got me to thinking. She asked my daughter what she wants to be when she grows up. LadyBug said a cowgirl. Don't ask me why she is in that phase right now...we do not own a horse...I think she enjoys wearing the boots. So LadyBug asked me what I wanted to be. I said I think I want the best job in the world, to be a mommy! She lit up and smiled. The other child thought for a minute and said to me, "You really don't know what you want to be, do you?" Now pause and think on that for a moment. Do you realize what we are teaching our children? Being a wife and mother is nothing. You have to BE something to be SOMEBODY. No career equals NOBODY. We wonder what has happened to today's children. We wonder what has happened to the family. We wonder what has happened to the soul of America.

Caring for your Puppy

From the perspective of 4 and 6 year old sisters. 1. Say hello to your puppies first thing in the morning. Make sure you wake your parents to take you outside to visit your puppies while there is still frost on the ground. Note: You may have to be very persistent and loud in order to wake them up. Don't let their grouchiness deter you! 2. If the puppies are still asleep be sure to shout hello to them as you burst out the back door. That way they will immediately wake up, cry and scatter in opposite directions as they beg loudly to be fed all before your parents have had their morning glass of tea and cup of cappuccino. 3. If your parents remain unconvinced that it is indeed time to feed and play with your puppies you may have to resort to irritating singing at the top of your lungs just to be sure they don't get too relaxed thereby becoming tempted to linger over that tea and cappuccino. Do what you have to do! 4. Once you have convinced your parents it is feeding time you may ...

Just a Word of Encouragement

Are you going through a trial today? Do you love God and place your faith in Him? Then know you have His solemn promise that He WILL take this trial and somehow, some way turn it for good in your life. He promises this not to just anyone, but to those who love Him. It is dark right now and you may not even see the light. But He already has a plan for you and you can trust Him to work it out. Change is on your horizon. Be open to His plans even if it means you must make big changes in your life, perhaps something you never even considered. Don't be guilty of putting Him in a box and thinking He has to work things out your way. I am praying for anyone who reads this and needs this today. You are not alone!

Romantic Caterpillars

Happy Valentine's Day! Bet you are wondering about that title! Ha, you have to read through the rest of the post to find out! We had a wonderful supper last night. The GuitarMan came home yesterday and requested steak. Now normally we would have laughed but for two things. 1. He had a really rough week and there was nothing I could do to "fix" it so I just wanted to comfort him somehow. And 2. Steak was on sale cheap! On a side note, do any of you parents ever have that feeling of wishing you could just put your child in a bubble and protect them from ever being hurt? *Sigh* Yeah, me too. *Another sigh* But back to my story. The Fisherman grilled the steak and I cooked some sliced potatoes and onions (so simple but so good!) along with a deluxe green salad. That was some good eating! I guess it was also pretty comforting too because The GuitarMan ate and promptly fell asleep! This morning the girls helped me cook some heart-shaped chocolate-chip pancakes along with bacon...

Puppies, Puppies Everywhere!

Aren't they cute? We have tagged the one in the dogbowl "Boots" and he seems to make his way into a lot of the pictures. The puppies will definitely be used to children! Those girls are all over them all the time. They treat them like babies and actually rock them to sleep! We have 8 girls and 2 boys. (puppies, that is!) They range in colors from black, black and white, black and tan, gray/silver, to even one blond. Some have short hair like the mother and some have long hair like the father. Now to find some homes! All my local readers, HELP ME OUT! :o)
