Update on GuitarMan

We had to see our doctor today for a yearly checkup on one of the children. When he found out what had happened to GuitarMan, what is going on with his hand, and how long it will be before he can be seen due to the doctor's mission trip, he was very concerned. He feels time is of the essence and he needs to be examined again. He has made an appt with another orthopaedic surgeon for first thing in the morning. So we have to be there at 8:00 am when they open. Please pray for his nerves, (he was a little freaked out when I told him they said nothing to eat or drink past midnight. "What are they planning on doing to me?!" he said.), his pain level, (lots of swelling and bruising still), wisdom and skill for the doctors. I know I keep repeating please pray for him but he is still my baby even at 19 and who better to petition than the Great Physician? I appreciate it so much!!

  3. I will pray for all of those things..and that God gives him peace about whatever procedures he may have to have that is making him nervous! It may just be for blood work that requires fasting, maybe? Let's hope!

The Season of Pregnancy (updated)

I know. I have been neglecting this blog. Horribly. That's not the only thing that has been thrown by the wayside lately! It is only for a season though. Pregnancy means you must be patient with yourself and accept that sometimes you must let things slide. That also means that you have to plan in order to conserve your energy. I know if I am going somewhere later today then I don't need to rush around and try to get a lot done in the morning. Priorities must be in order. Although the morning sickness is better it isn't totally gone at this point. Whoever named it that anyway? The main thing I have been dealing with is fatigue. My blog shows it. My laundry shows it. My house shows it. Ack, everywhere shows it! I simply do not have the energy to do the bending up and down required to truly clean up, do laundry, and the vacuuming/sweeping etc. It's quite depressing actually! So I do a little here, do a little there. I manage the necessities such as homeschooling, cooking, ...

Happenings Around Here

Well, another dog lost. :( This time it wasn't a car but something more sinister...a rattlesnake. She was bitten yesterday evening and lasted about 4 1/2 hours. Poor little Chi-Chi is only about 6 pounds or so and just couldn't take the venom. LadyBug seems to be taking it the hardest among the children. Our Bassett Hound, Daisy, and Chi-Chi are the best of friends and poor Daisy has spent the day looking for her. So sad. The GuitarMan has finished his semester and is home now. I introduced him to Pilates this morning. We worked out together. Ha ha, now if that wasn't a sight I just don't know what would be! He has a new found admiration for it now though. Afterwards I cut the FisherMan's hair outside under the plum tree while the children played in the pool. He asked if there was a way we could be any more redneck. I had plenty of ideas on that if he wanted but he didn't want to take part lol. Apparently it was a rhetorical question. This week was one of apprec...

The Homeschool Hunt

Anyone who homeschools knows how it is to hunt for the perfect curriculum. You search and search. You read and read. You narrow it down. You decide on a particular curriculum. Then you change your mind. Then you start all over. I have been trying to decide on curriculum for my girls. I am really interested in combining their studies as much as possible. Heart of Dakota looks like a good choice for that. I got my catalogue recently. It is a good sign when your 4 year old finds it and claims it as her own. She promptly grabbed a pencil and started marking all the books she liked the looks of. I love to read so I am looking forward to that. I also like that it calls for some curriculum that I already have. It gives you the freedom to choose some things on your own. I am thinking of sticking with Horizons Math. FlowerChild seems to enjoy the faster pace. I am going to have to crack down a little on the drills however. She hates flashcards or pages of practice problems. So I have to get cre...
