Nice Fourth

What a nice holiday weekend. We had a good turnout Saturday night for the cottage prayer meeting. After the devotional and prayer time we ate grilled hot dogs and hamburgers The FisherMan had cooked along with the yummy sides everyone brought. It was followed by some sinfully delicious desserts!

Eventually everyone drifted to the backyard where the children played in the pool. They had a blast! The resident dog-thats-not-our-dog-but-lives-here-anyway was in hog heaven with so many people to give him a little attention. When the men all headed over to the church to put up a sign for VBS Cornbread thought he was supposed to go, too! He toddled around and finally settled down on the floor of the gazebo with a pot, a mixing bowl and spoon and some dirt and there he played happily. As the children began to grow tired folks began to leave until we were left with 3 tired little ones of our own. They were asleep in no time.

The GuitarMan was at the beach for the fireworks display. We didn't see any this year. Now that I think of it I don't know that Cornbread has ever seen any. Can you imagine his reaction when he does?

  3. I think Chicken Little was as excited as "that dog" getting all the attention from everyone. She loves all the children so much. She can't wait to get down and run and play with them. My little busy-body will be grown before I know it. Had a great time with ya'll Saturday!!!!

The Season of Pregnancy (updated)

I know. I have been neglecting this blog. Horribly. That's not the only thing that has been thrown by the wayside lately! It is only for a season though. Pregnancy means you must be patient with yourself and accept that sometimes you must let things slide. That also means that you have to plan in order to conserve your energy. I know if I am going somewhere later today then I don't need to rush around and try to get a lot done in the morning. Priorities must be in order. Although the morning sickness is better it isn't totally gone at this point. Whoever named it that anyway? The main thing I have been dealing with is fatigue. My blog shows it. My laundry shows it. My house shows it. Ack, everywhere shows it! I simply do not have the energy to do the bending up and down required to truly clean up, do laundry, and the vacuuming/sweeping etc. It's quite depressing actually! So I do a little here, do a little there. I manage the necessities such as homeschooling, cooking, ...

Happenings Around Here

Well, another dog lost. :( This time it wasn't a car but something more sinister...a rattlesnake. She was bitten yesterday evening and lasted about 4 1/2 hours. Poor little Chi-Chi is only about 6 pounds or so and just couldn't take the venom. LadyBug seems to be taking it the hardest among the children. Our Bassett Hound, Daisy, and Chi-Chi are the best of friends and poor Daisy has spent the day looking for her. So sad. The GuitarMan has finished his semester and is home now. I introduced him to Pilates this morning. We worked out together. Ha ha, now if that wasn't a sight I just don't know what would be! He has a new found admiration for it now though. Afterwards I cut the FisherMan's hair outside under the plum tree while the children played in the pool. He asked if there was a way we could be any more redneck. I had plenty of ideas on that if he wanted but he didn't want to take part lol. Apparently it was a rhetorical question. This week was one of apprec...

Praising God, Asking for Your Prayers

It is 3:15 AM here and we just got home. Tonight we got the phone call every parent fears. When I saw The GuitarMan's number pop up I figured he was calling to see if I had ordered the new Skillet CD he wanted. But instead of his voice on the other end it was his roommate's. Brakes locked up. Telephone pole. Hospital. We are praising God that he knew what to do and avoided flipping. His brakes locked up and he slid into a telephone pole. He was able to get it slowed enough so it was not a hard hit. We are praising God because none of the other passengers were hurt. Unfortunately the GuitarMan was injured. His left hand wound up pinned between the pole and his vehicle. This is not what you want to have happen to a guitarist, obviously. But at this point they are saying it is fractured in 4 or 5 places. If he had been going any faster we could have been talking devastating injuries! God is good! I am asking you to please pray over this situation. For tonight he is in a tight spli...
