Answers to Some Frustrating Computer Problems

Internet Explorer Cannot Display Page Operation Aborted:
If you run Internet Explorer then chances are you have had this happen. It was happening to me a few weeks ago and I fixed it but then promptly forgot what I did....or maybe it was that I tried everything and wasn't sure what worked. At any rate if you are getting this message don't believe the hype that Internet Explorer 8 has fixed the problem. I just downloaded it yesterday and immediately the same problem began again. I finally figured out that it is add-ons that cause the problem. Even running in no-add-ons did not help me. There is techie mumbo-jumbo for what happens and I won't bore you with it. Instead I'll just tell you what to try for a fix.

If you are having this problem on your blog page try this. Watch the page load. As it loads things one by one watch to see which one it stops on without loading. Then up will pop the message. Chances are that is the add-on giving you trouble. In my case it was Feedjit. I uninstalled and problem solved. I am hoping now I can reinstall and everything is going to work ok. We'll see.

Now if this problem is occurring on other people's blog pages that you try to view then I just don't know what to tell you LOL. I am also having that problem with some of the blogs I normally read. At least I can get to my own now though. I have about decided the only answer to fixing the whole problem is to change to a new browser!

You Visit A Page (your own or someone else's) And It Is An Old Page/Not The Most Recent One:
This is easy but not everyone knows what to do to fix it. Go to your toolbar at the top of the screen. Go to tools. Internet Options. Delete browsing history. After it deletes the history then refresh the page. You should be on the current one at that point.

Just a couple of good things to know. If you already knew these then great but if not hopefully it helps you out!

  1. Internet Explorer is MESSED UP. It was doing the same thing to me -- saying it could not display the web page. Firefox is also messed up. We use Google Chrome now and have no problems. See if you can install it. It is a pain to get used to something new and I was resistant, but it is worth it.

  2. Mary,
I had never even heard of Google Chrome until just the other day. I think I saw on Feedjit that you used it. I was wondering how well it worked. I'll check that out. Thanks!

The Season of Pregnancy (updated)

I know. I have been neglecting this blog. Horribly. That's not the only thing that has been thrown by the wayside lately! It is only for a season though. Pregnancy means you must be patient with yourself and accept that sometimes you must let things slide. That also means that you have to plan in order to conserve your energy. I know if I am going somewhere later today then I don't need to rush around and try to get a lot done in the morning. Priorities must be in order. Although the morning sickness is better it isn't totally gone at this point. Whoever named it that anyway? The main thing I have been dealing with is fatigue. My blog shows it. My laundry shows it. My house shows it. Ack, everywhere shows it! I simply do not have the energy to do the bending up and down required to truly clean up, do laundry, and the vacuuming/sweeping etc. It's quite depressing actually! So I do a little here, do a little there. I manage the necessities such as homeschooling, cooking, ...

Latest on GuitarMan

I haven't made a practice of sharing photos with a full facial view on here. However the GuitarMan isn't too worried about that LOL! With many of you praying for him I thought you might like to have an idea of who he is. He is still in a lot of pain. His fingers are all black and blue and his entire hand is swollen. His hand is cut straight across his fingers and across the bottom of his hand. Once again, very obvious what could have happened. He's blown away by everyone caring and checking in him and the prayers on his behalf. He says to thank you all!

Power Bills

We lucked out last month on our power bill. We received a credit on our bill which helped tremendously. A lot of folks were shocked at how high their bills were, however. I can't blame them! Some of the figures I heard were outrageous! $500-600, one even $1200! One thing that got me was that many of these people work outside the home and their children are in school or daycare so the house stands empty all day. Not only that, but their families are much smaller so things like the washer, dryer, or stove would not be used as frequently. Shouldn't their bill be lower than ours? I think it has everyone trying to come up with ways to save on power. There are some things that are a given. Good insulation and windows go a long way towards helping lower a bill. When we first moved into our home the windows were very old. Some were cracked or even broken. The church eventually replaced them which was a huge blessing! But what were we to do in the meantime? Well, one way is to buy th...
