Where in the World Have You Been?

Well, I suppose you could tell I have been struggling a bit with blogging! Life has really been something lately. You know how it is, when it rains it pours! The FisherMan has started preaching through the book of James and he has been focusing on how to handle trials. I don't know why it can't be enough to do lip service on that subject rather than having to live it out! LOL Wow, sometimes it is just one thing after another.

Anyway I've just had this underlying melancholy feeling for the last few days. Not sad, not mad, not depressed. Just....magenta. Did you ever see that episode of The Golden Girls? Blanche defines that jumble of feelings with the color magenta. I tend to be an upbeat, hopeful type of person who is strong on faith and short on self pity and martyrdom. I really don't have much patience for those attitudes at all! So when I feel that old discouraged feeling creeping in I get a little frustrated with myself and I know it is time to back it up, get in the Word, and get into prayer! An attitude adjustment so to speak!

So a blogging break just sort of naturally happened. That is why the posts have been a little sparse. But I'm trying to get out of my stinkin thinkin and get back on track. So hopefully you'll be seeing me back around here more often again. When I get to feeling like that I just honestly don't have anything to write!

I have lots to share with y'all now though, complete with pictures if Blogger cooperates. God is good and He has been blessing! Just because a few weeds have popped up doesn't mean there isn't a beautiful rose garden. My baby turned one and our church family made it an AWESOME party. Our vegetables are beginning to come up. Everywhere I look I am seeing God at work. Has life been pummeling you, too? Don't be afraid to give yourself an attitude adjustment. Step back and realign your thinking with our Lord's. Realize He is still at work even when everything seems to be going wrong. He is faithful!

The Season of Pregnancy (updated)

I know. I have been neglecting this blog. Horribly. That's not the only thing that has been thrown by the wayside lately! It is only for a season though. Pregnancy means you must be patient with yourself and accept that sometimes you must let things slide. That also means that you have to plan in order to conserve your energy. I know if I am going somewhere later today then I don't need to rush around and try to get a lot done in the morning. Priorities must be in order. Although the morning sickness is better it isn't totally gone at this point. Whoever named it that anyway? The main thing I have been dealing with is fatigue. My blog shows it. My laundry shows it. My house shows it. Ack, everywhere shows it! I simply do not have the energy to do the bending up and down required to truly clean up, do laundry, and the vacuuming/sweeping etc. It's quite depressing actually! So I do a little here, do a little there. I manage the necessities such as homeschooling, cooking, ...

Latest on GuitarMan

I haven't made a practice of sharing photos with a full facial view on here. However the GuitarMan isn't too worried about that LOL! With many of you praying for him I thought you might like to have an idea of who he is. He is still in a lot of pain. His fingers are all black and blue and his entire hand is swollen. His hand is cut straight across his fingers and across the bottom of his hand. Once again, very obvious what could have happened. He's blown away by everyone caring and checking in him and the prayers on his behalf. He says to thank you all!

Power Bills

We lucked out last month on our power bill. We received a credit on our bill which helped tremendously. A lot of folks were shocked at how high their bills were, however. I can't blame them! Some of the figures I heard were outrageous! $500-600, one even $1200! One thing that got me was that many of these people work outside the home and their children are in school or daycare so the house stands empty all day. Not only that, but their families are much smaller so things like the washer, dryer, or stove would not be used as frequently. Shouldn't their bill be lower than ours? I think it has everyone trying to come up with ways to save on power. There are some things that are a given. Good insulation and windows go a long way towards helping lower a bill. When we first moved into our home the windows were very old. Some were cracked or even broken. The church eventually replaced them which was a huge blessing! But what were we to do in the meantime? Well, one way is to buy th...
