Joy in the Milky Way

Well, all my little chickadees went to sleep by 8:00 and stayed asleep! In my last post I mentioned catching up on my housework if they did that. Didn't do it. My husband had sermon prep to work on tonight after he went on visitation. So we sat comfortably together, him working over at the desk, me enjoying an ENTIRE chick flick, plus a Milky Way he brought me that I did not even have to hide while I ate it! It was awesome! .....sorry, but it makes me a bit giddy to think of!

Find joy in the small things in life. The big things don't come every day, in fact there are no promises of BIG things that are joyful. Choose to find something to be happy and positive about every day.

A few things I noticed today:

1. That Milky Way I mentioned.
2. The fact that hubby thought to get it for me just because he thought I might like one.
3. The curve of LadyBug's cheek and the twinkle in her eye when she laughed this afternoon.
4. Holding the FlowerChild and rocking her to sleep tonight.
5. Nursing the baby to sleep and the smell of clean jammies and baby lotion.

Anyone can be negative and critical about their circumstances, the stress in their life, the people in their life! But it is so worth it to try to cultivate an attitude of thankfulness in even the little things. If you are one that has trouble with this, start practicing. Practice until it becomes a habit then continue practicing until it becomes who you are. Because whatever your attitude is WILL eventually become who you are.

The Season of Pregnancy (updated)

I know. I have been neglecting this blog. Horribly. That's not the only thing that has been thrown by the wayside lately! It is only for a season though. Pregnancy means you must be patient with yourself and accept that sometimes you must let things slide. That also means that you have to plan in order to conserve your energy. I know if I am going somewhere later today then I don't need to rush around and try to get a lot done in the morning. Priorities must be in order. Although the morning sickness is better it isn't totally gone at this point. Whoever named it that anyway? The main thing I have been dealing with is fatigue. My blog shows it. My laundry shows it. My house shows it. Ack, everywhere shows it! I simply do not have the energy to do the bending up and down required to truly clean up, do laundry, and the vacuuming/sweeping etc. It's quite depressing actually! So I do a little here, do a little there. I manage the necessities such as homeschooling, cooking, ...

Happenings Around Here

Well, another dog lost. :( This time it wasn't a car but something more sinister...a rattlesnake. She was bitten yesterday evening and lasted about 4 1/2 hours. Poor little Chi-Chi is only about 6 pounds or so and just couldn't take the venom. LadyBug seems to be taking it the hardest among the children. Our Bassett Hound, Daisy, and Chi-Chi are the best of friends and poor Daisy has spent the day looking for her. So sad. The GuitarMan has finished his semester and is home now. I introduced him to Pilates this morning. We worked out together. Ha ha, now if that wasn't a sight I just don't know what would be! He has a new found admiration for it now though. Afterwards I cut the FisherMan's hair outside under the plum tree while the children played in the pool. He asked if there was a way we could be any more redneck. I had plenty of ideas on that if he wanted but he didn't want to take part lol. Apparently it was a rhetorical question. This week was one of apprec...

Baby Steps

Hope you've had a good day today. We have been having some lovely autumn weather at our house! Yet I still have the urge to get the Christmas decorations out. Normally I am one of those people who likes to get Thanksgiving completed before moving on into the Christmas festivities. But there is just something about this year that has me ready to get all of the holidays going and squeeze out all the wonder. So my house now has icicle lights hung 3/4 of the way across the front. It's a small start but still an official start! I can't wait for the holiday cooking shows on Food network and the Christmas romantic comedy movies to begin. We also did a little rearranging today along with some cleaning out. I am going through the children's things and doing away with broken toys or the things that just don't interest them. I still have a ways to go until I can check "satisfied" or "completed" on my mental list. But still, like the Christmas lights, I can ...
