Lots of them! As in too many to get a good count with them under their mama but we are guessing 9 or 10. Ok, friends at the chicken house, stop laughing. Now, all other friends, family and new bloggy friends, you stop laughing, too. I feel like I am living in 101 Dalmations.Except if Cruella DeVille came in I might be tempted....ok, not really. But honestly I knew Rosie was happily frolicking a couple of months ago but who knew just how much frolicking one dog could do? Or as the little ones said when they reported her frolicking, "Mama, Look! Rosie and CD are playin' leapfrog!" And no, before you ask, Mama did NOT correct them!
But anyhoo...here is the before picture of Rosie. She was soooo pregnant. Now I see why!
She is a sweet, sweet dog. She showed up at our house just a few months back. I have never seen a dog so skinny and malnourished. She was literally a walking skeleton. Her fur was dry and brittle. She only had a few of her teeth. (They came in once she started being fed regularly) She was full of ticks. She was so weak she could barely stand. Her ears had been cut so we assume someone mistakenly thought she was a pit and maybe wanted to fight her. But there is no way she would have what it takes. She is hyper but has a gentle nature and is very loyal. Great with the children. That being the case, we couldn't just let her starve so we took her in to fatten her up and get her to a pound. Well, she outsmarted us. She will NOT get in a car, no way, no how! Then the longer she stayed the more attached the family got. The girls named her, then instead of getting prizes for themselves they would get a toy for her. Then a rose covered dog bowl. You get it. So here we are with puppies. I'll try to get some pictures posted in the next couple of days. Then you can all pick out the one you want. Or two. :)

Congrats on the new "granddogs". I understand having so many. Molly is much shorter than Rosie and she had 9. Her poor belly nearly drug the ground. She couldn't even follow Papa Rooster to the chicken houses.
ReplyDeleteWell I'm sure the girls are helping take care of the puppies already. They'll be attached before you know it and you'll be keeping Rosie, the 9-10 little ones and any "friends" Rosie brings home. Our "puppy daddy" showed up the other day, and he was run off when he didn't show up with "puppy support". :) 2 of ours are promised out and we'll keep one, so we've got 1 girl to give away. Don't you need just 1 more--I'm sure the girls will say yes....
