Do any of you have children that like to pack the house when you go somewhere? You can try the whole "just one toy" trick and go round and round about that. (or have them puff up and whine because they could not take all their favorites). Or you can try to ignore it and wind up with a floorboard that looks like a toybox. Or you could do this. Get them a backpack or bag that they really love. You might even like to buy a plain one and allow them to decorate it themselves. Whatever will fit in the bag can go. (as long as it is something you have previously decided was ok to leave the house) You might even allow them to pack a snack or water bottle, too. Everyone carries their own bag. This helps us when we go places. Being in the country means everything is a trip, even just running up to the library or dollar store. So this makes for happy children and happy parents. It makes it much easier now to keep the car clean. If you just do a quick check of their bag as you get ready to leave, then if something is left in the car you know exactly who needs to pick it up. Other than that everyone just grabs their bag as you go in the house! Easy!
I know. I have been neglecting this blog. Horribly. That's not the only thing that has been thrown by the wayside lately! It is only for a season though. Pregnancy means you must be patient with yourself and accept that sometimes you must let things slide. That also means that you have to plan in order to conserve your energy. I know if I am going somewhere later today then I don't need to rush around and try to get a lot done in the morning. Priorities must be in order. Although the morning sickness is better it isn't totally gone at this point. Whoever named it that anyway? The main thing I have been dealing with is fatigue. My blog shows it. My laundry shows it. My house shows it. Ack, everywhere shows it! I simply do not have the energy to do the bending up and down required to truly clean up, do laundry, and the vacuuming/sweeping etc. It's quite depressing actually! So I do a little here, do a little there. I manage the necessities such as homeschooling, cooking, ...
Yes, GREAT tip! We have our kiddos fill up their back packs on long trips, yet usually just stick with the 1 toy rule for around town. We don't have to drive far to run errands thankfully! :)
ReplyDeleteYes it definitely makes a difference when you live in town. Right now my girls have 3 special babies each that they tote everywhere and sleep with!
