Squeezing in the To-do list

My little FlowerChild wasn't up to par today. She obviously felt bad but the only thing that was for sure was a toothache so it made me suspect sinus pressure. She stayed very sleepy and was so emotional! I hope she isn't getting sick! But that is one thing that is nice about homeschooling. Instead of losing a day of school we can just go to a lighter schedule when she isn't feeling well. So today we did some reading aloud (Little House in the Big Woods), some copywork to practice on handwriting, and reviewed her math orally. In between we watched a lot of PBS and rocked in the recliner! :) I let her have a bubble bath late this afternoon and that seemed to make her feel a little better. I wasn't going to take her to church tonight but she begged so that I finally gave in. By the time we went she was playing and running as though nothing had ever been wrong! She also knew that if I saw the slightest hint that she still felt lousy I would not have allowed her to go! That child absolutely loves to go to church.

There was a lot on the to-do list today. I didn't manage to finish everything I would have liked since I had to work it in amongst the attention to the children. But I did get quite a bit completed. I thought I would include it just in case anyone needed some inspiration. Sometimes when you feel bogged down and don't know where to start it helps to see someone else's list and their progress.

We started out with a nice hot breakfast. Today was eggs, grits, biscuits and ham. The ham was in the freezer left from Christmas. It took 2 cappuccinos today to get going but I got in the groove! I was way behind on laundry so I wanted to concentrate on that.

Laundry:
Adult clothing washed, dried and put away (DONE)
Sheets, towels washed, dried, folded and put away (1/2 DONE)
Children's clothing washed, dried, folded and put away (1 load still in washer, hated to do that but I had to leave to go to church!)

Cooking:
Bake loaf of bread (DONE)
Season and brown 5 pounds of ground beef (DONE)
Make meals from ground beef (DONE)
Made Santa Fe soup, spaghetti sauce, enchiladas, and taco meat

Cleaning:
Dust
Pick up the Living Room
Vaccuum
Steam clean high traffic areas
Scrub bathroom
Sweep and mop kitchen

Didn't get to any of the heavier cleaning on my list today. But there is always tomorrow. And around here just because it was done would not guarantee it wouldn't need to be done again tomorrow anyway!

  1. Pretty background on your blog! You are definitely a BUSY mama! :) I hope Flowerchild is feeling better still! Is the Santa Fe soup similar to Taco Soup? We love soup!

  2. Hey Tiff! I was just thinking of you! Send me an update! Thanks, I like to rearrange. My house is too small to do it too much so I rearrange my blog instead!Yes the soup is a variation of taco soup. My oldest loves it so I thought it would be good to have on hand this weekend.

The Season of Pregnancy (updated)

I know. I have been neglecting this blog. Horribly. That's not the only thing that has been thrown by the wayside lately! It is only for a season though. Pregnancy means you must be patient with yourself and accept that sometimes you must let things slide. That also means that you have to plan in order to conserve your energy. I know if I am going somewhere later today then I don't need to rush around and try to get a lot done in the morning. Priorities must be in order. Although the morning sickness is better it isn't totally gone at this point. Whoever named it that anyway? The main thing I have been dealing with is fatigue. My blog shows it. My laundry shows it. My house shows it. Ack, everywhere shows it! I simply do not have the energy to do the bending up and down required to truly clean up, do laundry, and the vacuuming/sweeping etc. It's quite depressing actually! So I do a little here, do a little there. I manage the necessities such as homeschooling, cooking, ...

Latest on GuitarMan

I haven't made a practice of sharing photos with a full facial view on here. However the GuitarMan isn't too worried about that LOL! With many of you praying for him I thought you might like to have an idea of who he is. He is still in a lot of pain. His fingers are all black and blue and his entire hand is swollen. His hand is cut straight across his fingers and across the bottom of his hand. Once again, very obvious what could have happened. He's blown away by everyone caring and checking in him and the prayers on his behalf. He says to thank you all!

Power Bills

We lucked out last month on our power bill. We received a credit on our bill which helped tremendously. A lot of folks were shocked at how high their bills were, however. I can't blame them! Some of the figures I heard were outrageous! $500-600, one even $1200! One thing that got me was that many of these people work outside the home and their children are in school or daycare so the house stands empty all day. Not only that, but their families are much smaller so things like the washer, dryer, or stove would not be used as frequently. Shouldn't their bill be lower than ours? I think it has everyone trying to come up with ways to save on power. There are some things that are a given. Good insulation and windows go a long way towards helping lower a bill. When we first moved into our home the windows were very old. Some were cracked or even broken. The church eventually replaced them which was a huge blessing! But what were we to do in the meantime? Well, one way is to buy th...
