Check That Label!

I have had the question posed "When do you find the time to blog?" Well, my usual time is late evening after the children go to bed. Unless Husband unknowingly gives them Dr. Pepper instead of the caffeine-free Root Beer he thought he picked up. In which case, children going to bed is pretty much unheard of and I just blog. :o) Obviously the baby went to bed on time. He's not quite ready for soda! (Although I once knew a woman who regularly put Mountain Dew in her baby's bottle. She had a 4.0 GPA but was a little slow in the parenting skills.) LadyBug finally gave it up at 10:00 PM. The FlowerChild is on the couch with her dolls rambling incoherently! Not really but she is a hoot when she gets going in her own little world with them!

My day was busy as usual. We got in quite a bit of homeschooling today with extra lessons in Math and Reading. So maybe the breakfast is helping! I got some daily cleaning done. Considered doing laundry but decided tomorrow would be a much nicer day for it. Our laundry room is outside under the carport so these cool days make it challenging! I really need to do laundry daily to keep up but when the weather is so miserable I would rather play catch-up on it than brave the cold and wet clothes! (FisherMan and FlowerChild are now having a detailed discussion about what exactly a tee time is. It's almost 11:00!)

Well, no sooner than I typed that than she appeared at my side and whispered,"I'm ready for bed" and promptly crawled up in my lap. She is now snuggled contentedly happy as a little lark. And why not? It's only 3 hours past her bedtime! Ah, it may be a good thing we did those extra lessons today!

The Season of Pregnancy (updated)

I know. I have been neglecting this blog. Horribly. That's not the only thing that has been thrown by the wayside lately! It is only for a season though. Pregnancy means you must be patient with yourself and accept that sometimes you must let things slide. That also means that you have to plan in order to conserve your energy. I know if I am going somewhere later today then I don't need to rush around and try to get a lot done in the morning. Priorities must be in order. Although the morning sickness is better it isn't totally gone at this point. Whoever named it that anyway? The main thing I have been dealing with is fatigue. My blog shows it. My laundry shows it. My house shows it. Ack, everywhere shows it! I simply do not have the energy to do the bending up and down required to truly clean up, do laundry, and the vacuuming/sweeping etc. It's quite depressing actually! So I do a little here, do a little there. I manage the necessities such as homeschooling, cooking, ...

Baby Steps

Hope you've had a good day today. We have been having some lovely autumn weather at our house! Yet I still have the urge to get the Christmas decorations out. Normally I am one of those people who likes to get Thanksgiving completed before moving on into the Christmas festivities. But there is just something about this year that has me ready to get all of the holidays going and squeeze out all the wonder. So my house now has icicle lights hung 3/4 of the way across the front. It's a small start but still an official start! I can't wait for the holiday cooking shows on Food network and the Christmas romantic comedy movies to begin. We also did a little rearranging today along with some cleaning out. I am going through the children's things and doing away with broken toys or the things that just don't interest them. I still have a ways to go until I can check "satisfied" or "completed" on my mental list. But still, like the Christmas lights, I can ...

Power Bills

We lucked out last month on our power bill. We received a credit on our bill which helped tremendously. A lot of folks were shocked at how high their bills were, however. I can't blame them! Some of the figures I heard were outrageous! $500-600, one even $1200! One thing that got me was that many of these people work outside the home and their children are in school or daycare so the house stands empty all day. Not only that, but their families are much smaller so things like the washer, dryer, or stove would not be used as frequently. Shouldn't their bill be lower than ours? I think it has everyone trying to come up with ways to save on power. There are some things that are a given. Good insulation and windows go a long way towards helping lower a bill. When we first moved into our home the windows were very old. Some were cracked or even broken. The church eventually replaced them which was a huge blessing! But what were we to do in the meantime? Well, one way is to buy th...
