Catching Up With Each Other

So, life has been a bit chaotic lately but what's new? :o) I thought I would share a little from different areas of our life. Wanna chat with me for a while and play catch up? In no particular order, here goes: In the Kitchen: With soccer going on in a different town we have been on the go way too much. Tonight was supposed to be the last game but it was canceled. Naturally we found out when we got to the field and no one else was there! I am looking forward to being home and having more home cooked meals. I am thinking about those summer comfort foods....fresh peas with cornbread, fried okra, sliced tomatoes, macaroni and cheese, maybe make some homemade ice cream. Mmmmm! Which leads me to the garden: The FisherMan loves to garden and has over one hundred seedlings started. He won't be able to put that many out but what a great start! If everything produces we will have squash, tomatoes, okra, hot peppers, bell peppers and peas. It isn't a huge garden spot, but it's en...

I Do

How are you doing on the laundry at your house? Well, I am fighting a never-ending battle here! :) We are either very clean people or some nasty folks, I'm not sure! I never catch up even though I am constantly washing and drying clothes. But I try to use it as a time of focusing on my sweet family in prayer. Do you ever do that? Here is what I mean. When I wash the children's clothes I might pray: thanking God for sending me children to raise for Him, asking for wisdom and strength to do the job right, praying for their futures that they will love the Lord and serve Him, praying for their future spouses and children...just whatever comes to mind. It also is a good time to pray for anything that might be going on right then such as training issues with the little ones or problems I may know about in my oldest son's life. Today I washed the FisherMan's clothes. I use the time to pray for him as well but today I had to smile as I cleaned out his pockets. It told so much a...

Just Life Around Here

Lots to do today. But I have a little guy in my lap that needs a nap and doesn't seem to realize just how much I could accomplish if he would lay down! Oh, he is napping but every time I attempt to lay him down that sweet little head pops up and he begins to cry. Then as soon as I pick him up, down it goes and he is back asleep! He occasionally gets that way where he wants what he wants. Namely, hold me while I sleep! I have gotten to where I can "read" his moods and tell whether it is best to do what it takes to get the sleep in him or just let it go and not worry about the nap. Oh, I know some folks who freak out over this kind of thing. Afraid of spoiling and all that jazz. But I don't worry. After all, we're not talking about an everyday, normal thing here. And before I know it he will be too busy to snooze in Mama's arms! So I just try to not sweat it. It falls under the category of "small stuff." As for the to-do list....oh, my it's a doozi...

Bible Teaching or Something Else?

Another beautiful day! It was a blessed time with the Lord today. We had several of the GuitarMan's friends come to church and it was so good to have them worship with us. I taught on seeking God's will this morning in SS and as it is any time I teach, I also learned. Children's Church is the same way. I am teaching from the Old Testament right now. I review what we have learned thus far and add a little to it each week so that we are in constant review but also adding to our knowledge. I really enjoy the chance to teach from the Bible and view it as a privilege. I also take it very seriously. I want to be sure I teach solid Biblical truth. Some people think you would have to be a Bible expert to be able to teach. Certainly you should have some Bible knowledge and be a solid Christian. But more importantly, I think you have to be teachable yourself so that you are willing to dig into the Word and then share what God reveals. I once knew a lady who shared with my husb...

Social Studies Lesson

LadyBug: What's for breakfast? Mama: Scrambled eggs and cheese LadyBug: But I want Gummi Bears! Mama: Later for snack. Breakfast is eggs and cheese. LadyBug: But I don't like them, I want Gummi Bears! Daddy: Sorry, this isn't a democracy. It's a dictatorship! We're having scrambled eggs and cheese.

Recipe for Broccoli Cornbread

I had several folks ask for this recipe following our Green Fellowship. We love it and I also love that it is easy as can be! Broccoli Cornbread 2 Boxes Jiffy Cornbread Mix 10 oz pkg frozen chopped broccoli 1 large onion 1 t salt 4 eggs 1 stick melted margarine or butter 1 c grated cheese Mix all ingredients and bake in greased skillet or casserole at 400 degrees for 30 minutes. EDITED TO ADD: I chopped the broccoli into smaller pieces and added extra cheese. Just my taste. :)

Calling All Christians

My, what a great day it has been thus far! Ha, there is a part of me thinking I shouldn't think that so fast because the day isn't over! Do you ever do that? Borrow trouble instead of relaxing and enjoying something to the fullest? So this morning we were outa here bright and early headed to the GuitarMan's collegetown. He is in the choir and they have been working on a big performance because today was preview day. Well, you can bet getting there on time with 3 small children was no easy feat! We even stopped on the way to help out a lady. It is so neat how God works. She was in another community headed in the wrong direction trying to get to a whole different town. We got behind her and The FisherMan said, "She has no clue where she's at." I wasn't even paying any attention and about the time he said that, she waved us ahead. We pulled alongside and asked if we could help in some way and, sure enough, she was almost in tears! She was attempting to foll...
