Prayer Request

Hi, all. Goodness what a day! I had texted the GuitarMan earlier on and he surprised me when he called me back a few minutes later. I say surprised because today is a busy day for him. Well, he managed to croak out that he was sick. He has been sick for a couple of weeks with a cold which settled in his chest but Stubborn would not go to the doctor. (He calls me that, too, by the way...guess he gets it honest!) At first I thought he meant that was worse. Anyway it only took a minute to realize that he was in the throes of a migraine. Any of you who suffer with them knows how he feels. He went to bed late but woke up a short time later with a sick stomach. He still managed to make it to 8:00 class though only to find it canceled. So he headed back to his dorm to do a little guitar practice but found he just could not hold out. The migraine hit him full force at that point and he was out. When we got to the college he was at the worst point. Slurred speech, mixed up words, could not take...

Good Times

Here I sit relaxing after a full weekend! I told you about our day Saturday. I thought you might like to see some pictures. Here is little LadyBug on a horse for the first time. The man helping her is the father of the friend having the birthday. Isn't she tiny? Everyone tried to get the GuitarMan on a horse. He said, "No way, no how you will NEVER get me on a horse!" Well, everyone has a price I suppose. See, we all love that cowboy in the above picture and keep praying to see him come to the Lord. My son told him, "You come to church tomorrow and I'll ride." They shook hands on it. The GuitarMan rode the horse and Sunday morning we had a cowboy come to church! That is quite the example of creative thinking when inviting someone to church! Sunday we had an awesome service at church. There was a poem read in memory of a lady that died from cancer. Then her mother spoke briefly thanking the church for all that was done and telling how happy her daughter was t...

Homemade Hospitality

We had a great day today. In fact, we just got home a little while ago! A friend had a birthday party today so we spent the day at their house. There were lots of children so my little ones had a blast running and playing. We enjoyed visiting with friends. The food was so good. And I have never laughed so hard at a hot dog as I did there! (How about you Country Life Girl?) The Guitarman met a new friend who also loves guitar and golf so they had a great time talking golf and jammin (the rest of us got to hear their mini-concert. Wow-wish I had their talent!) The kids all rode horses. I got some great pictures I will post when I get a minute to transfer them to the computer and get them loaded. When the sun went down there was a bonfire and we roasted marshmallows and made smores. Speaking of which, did you know they made caramel marshmallows? Yum! You know, too many people think they have to wait until they have everything in perfect order before they can open up their home. It must be...

Children and Sports

Oh my what a day! Busy, busy around the homefront. Then we sat at a COLD soccer field. It was late practice so they finished at the children's BEDTIME. But it is only for a few weeks and the FlowerChild enjoys it so much. I can't complain when I see that big smile. She never complains or grumbles. It makes her so happy to play. I have to wonder about some parents. Now forgive me if you happen to be this way. I promise I do not mean this to be insulting. I just honestly do not understand. When The GuitarMan was coming up he started playing sports at 5 years old because he wanted to. Then he participated only if it was something he was interested in. As far as I remember that is how it was with all the other children. He played baseball, basketball, and golf and dabbled in some church league soccer just for fun. But it seems different these days. I have heard so many parents say the same thing since The FlowerChild started playing. I will say something about how she has always wa...

Why Do I Feel Like Somebody's Watching Me?

Remember that song? I'm giving away my age! LOL Anyone catch Fox News this morning? They did a piece on digital technology and how it is being used to profile and gather information. Those digital billboards that look so cool? Many of them are equipped with cameras. As you watch the ad, YOU are being watched! You are instantly profiled...age range, male or female, how long does the ad hold your attention. Sound harmless? Comcast Cable already has a patent to place this technology inside their cable boxes which of course, are placed inside your home. Technology is in place to use the cameras and microphones inside your computer for the same purposes...well, just those purposes for now anyway. Whoever is on the other end will have access to seeing who is in your home and hearing the background noise going on. Hmmm, I wonder why the government cares so much that every home acquires a digital converter box to the point of spending millions so we can all get coupons. Naaaah, I'm sur...

Breastfeeding Funny

Don't worry, gentlemen readers, this shouldn't embarrass you...though if you think it might just stop reading! The girls were discussing how many babies they want when they grow up. LadyBug said she wants two twins, two by two. (that means two sets) She said she didn't think she could handle more than that. But she could give them bottles and that might help. This is where thinking like an adult can get you into trouble! Silly me, I am assuming the deliveries would be years apart! Trying to reassure her as to her ability to care for TWO babies at a time I said, "Or you could still nurse them. Mommies can nurse twins." She thought for a minute as she stared at her chest. Then she said, "But, Mommy I don't have enough nursers for that!"

Got Fruit?

I have a confession to make. I - am -a - people watcher. There I said it. I love to people watch! The FisherMan and I can be out somewhere with our oldest son and he can tell immediately when we go into our secret agent mode LOL. He used to get so exasperated with us and now I catch him doing the same thing! Have you ever wondered what people think if they practice people watching on you? Anyone that knows anything about following Christ knows that a Christian should bear fruit. "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. " Galatians 5: 22-23 But I wonder how many of us are truly living this out. How many of us are just content to have a foot in heaven? Or maybe that we are so much better than that other person? At least I don't ___________________. We get so caught up in comparisons, judgements and downright complacency that we forget (or don't even begin) to live out our beliefs in a ...
