OK I Know I Speak Southern But Come On!

I would think after 25 years of marriage The FisherMan would understand anything I said. Apparently not! This afternoon we took a stroll with the children over to the church. As we walked along we got to talking about the different views on annointing with oil. Don't ask me how! Now here is what I said. "So they are saying that the oil is nothing but doctoring." Here is what he heard. "So they are saying that the oil is nothing but doctrine." So began a series of misunderstanding similar to the whole "who's on first" fiasco! "No they don't think it is sound doctrine!" "Doctrine? No, no doctoring!" "Doctrine?" " OH, doc-ter-ing! Ing! Ing!" Oh, well at least I keep things interesting for him! :)

Involving Children In Household Work

Well, here it is...Friday! My days are all confused what with VBS and revival. It reminds me of the time my husband woke up and thought it was a work day. This was before we really knew each other but he told me about it later. It was back when he worked construction on the oil refineries. His day would begin very early. He was usually at the job site no later than 5 or 5:30 am. Anyway he woke up on this particular day and thought he was late. He flew around and got dressed and raced to the job site only to find it empty. It was Saturday. :) I can just imagine him arriving only to find all the huge parking areas empty! I haven't done anything like that this week but I have had a very hard time keeping up with the children's new charts. We started it on the wrong day. Then I realized my confusion and changed it. Then I realized I was still confused and still had not put the correct day! I wound up filling it in and erasing it 3 times over two days! I've revamped our routines...

Slowing Back Down

Well, tonight was the last night of revival. I have truly been blessed. Bro. Mickey was so encouraging to our family. He directed the church to get behind The FisherMan as their pastor and join together to accomplish great things for God. From the pulpit he reaffirmed my place as a wife and mother. He also took a genuine interest in The GuitarMan and his music. He and his wife homeschooled their 2 daughters throughout school. They had some extended family come for revival who also homeschool. So it was nice to "talk shop." I'm sure it was good for The Fisherman to also be able to "talk shop" with a fellow pastor this week. I can say it has been good to be in the house of the Lord! We have had an awesome time of worship and annointed preaching. Last night it was almost 11:00 pm before we got home. We had another man come to sing during the service. Then Bro. Mickey preached. Afterwards my boys quickly set up and treated us to what you could only say was a concert...

Revival This Week

Revival went well tonight and we had a good turnout. The GuitarMan and his college roomate/best bud/bandmate led us in some awesome praise! They sang Blessed be the Name of the Lord (per Mama's request!), I Can Only Imagine, Lead Me to the Cross, and another song that they wrote JUST LAST NIGHT! They called me last night and wanted me to hear what they were working on. I always love to hear their music so they played it for me over the phone. I said, "You have to finish that and play it tomorrow!" So it was amazing. After church they played some more for a while and folks stuck around and listened. They have several upcoming opportunities to play at various churches and they have a big 3-day retreat in Panama City, Florida coming up, too. I am so proud of my boys and excited to see how God will use them! Tomorrow night we have a guy coming from another town to sing. Bro. Mickey will continue his series. Tonight he spoke on teamwork and how we each have our place of servic...

What's For Supper, Mama?

Well, I did not share this last week because with VBS we were pretty much eating sandwiches and chips every night up at the church. By Thursday The FisherMan was begging for real food though so I fixed some beef stroganoff, fresh green beans and biscuits for us to scarf down before heading over there. It was sooooo good. I don't know that it was my cooking that was so awesome or just the fact that it was a homecooked meal LOL! This week is revival so there will still be a bit of a time crunch. Here is what I have planned. We'll see if it plays out! MONDAY Errand day and revival meeting so we will be having tacos, refried beans, and chips with homemade salsa TUESDAY Baked pork chops rice with gravy fresh creamstyle corn steamed broccoli biscuits WEDNESDAY spaghetti garlic bread salad THURSDAY chili (made from the leftover spaghetti) FRIDAY fried catfish hushpuppies squash casserole french fries SATURDAY BBQ chicken potato salad fresh peas cornbread SUNDAY pork roast potato salad...

Vbs is completed!

Whew! What a wonderful week it has been! I managed to lead the music successfully, thanks be to the Lord. It sure wasn't me! I loved the songs in this VBS. The lyrics were simply outstanding! The movements included a lot of dance and sign language. Sunday is Homecoming and we are going to do one of the songs "What We're Here For" during worship service. The choir will sing it while I do the movement. Tomorrow is Clean Up Day, Sunday is Homecoming with Revival starting Sunday night. I am ready for revival! It will also be good for The FisherMan. You know, pastors don't get ministered TO very often. So it will be good to worship together. This is short but I still have one child awake and tomorrow is fast approaching! Tonight was Family Night so they were really keyed up plus they all slept in this morning and had naps today. .....Mama didn't. :)
