Homeschool Help Update

I updated the Homeschool Helps list on the sidebar. I added 3 new links that I thought you might enjoy if homeschooling is an interest of yours (or if you just like supplementing your public or private schooled child's education). So let's talk education! Christian Liberty Press: The only thing I am presently using is the reading curriculum. I really like it. All kinds of inexpensive, quality curriculum here. I've read many good reviews. Freebie of the Day: This is great! Sign up and every week you will get an email with a free download for each day. There are neat e-books and whole lesson plans. Stuff you've probably never even thought of. You just click the link if it is something you want and ignore it otherwise. The only drawback is you must go to the site on the particular day each freebie is offered. I get absentminded and have missed out on some cool stuff because of it! Sonlight : I don't use this as a curriculum. The price and teaching approach simply are...

Tired in a Good Way

It's a pleasant night. The girls are still awake but they are playing quietly in their room. A Braves game is on which makes for relaxing "background music." Cornbread is going to sleep in my lap as I type. I'm just tired enough to feel contented but not exhausted. Do you know what I mean? I am tired but satisfied with a good, hard day of work. There was a lot to be done around here and much was completed. But it wasn't one of those frantic, go, go , go days either. As I washed up breakfast dishes I noticed two little birds hard at work outside my window. So we watched them build their nest all morning. They are are on a shelf on my carport! At our last house we had bird nests every year on our porch and we all enjoyed watching the little babies. Homeschool started out as always with Bible. The girls have had a lot of questions this week! I love the fact that we can linger on those questions as long as necessary. Even if they were in a Christian school they would ...

Reverse Encouragement

I have had a time with discouragement lately. Then I feel guilty for getting discouraged. Which discourages me. But God has been good to me and he used some folks to encourage me this weekend for which I am grateful. The GuitarMan came home and it was such a sweet visit. I enjoy having him around so much. Some friends of his were around here some this weekend too which made me realize how much I miss having their traffic through my home! But he is coming home for the summer soon! I made a new friend who is also a pastor's wife. She is one cool chick! Easy to talk to and a transparent person who doesn't put on airs. I like that! I have enjoyed getting to talk with her. We spent time with friends Friday night and I just really did not feel myself. But they loved me anyway and made me laugh. It's nice to just be me. My sweet girls hugged me, told me they loved me and wished me Happy Mother's Day a kzillion times yesterday. Oh, they are so precious to me! A friend emailed t...

Happy Mother's Day

I received this as a forward email and thought it was worth sharing here. Some of you may have already seen it (especially if you happened to send it to me, ha!). But read and enjoy anyway! Before I was a Mom, I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby. I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous. I never thought about immunizations. Before I was a Mom, I had never been puked on. Pooped on. Chewed on. Peed on. I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts. I slept all night. Before I was a Mom, I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests. Or give shots. I never looked into teary eyes and cried. I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin. I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep. Before I was a Mom, I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put her down. I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt. I never knew that something so small could affect my life so...

Entertainment in the Country

No bright lights and city life for us out here! So what did we find ourselves mesmerized with tonight? Picture it. There we were. The FisherMan, me, The GuitarMan, a good friend of his with her zebra print blouse LOL, FlowerChild, LadyBug, and Cornbread. We are gathered around the new bug zapper with its purple light waiting for it to zap a bug. Then we notice that it makes Cornbread's white shirt glow in the dark. My little Gloworm! So we get to looking around and we see it makes Blondie's zebra shirt glow in the dark. She says, "Hey, this is better than the bowling alley!" GuitarMan goes, "Galaxy bowling!!!" Aah, life in the country!

Faith of a Child

This is what I found my girls up to one morning. Ok, so, no they didn't really think they would catch a fish in the pool! They actually had been practicing casting with their new poles and wanted some real water. But it was so cute I couldn't resist snapping a picture!

Rubber Hamburger

This week is a lean week grocery wise so I have planned "roll-over meals" and simple stuff thrown in. A roll-over meal is where you stretch one meal to create a new one. Like rubber chicken. Roasted chicken one night, chicken pot pie another, chicken soup, etc. Now I didn't have a chicken this week but I did have 3 pounds of hamburger, a roast (on sale woo-hoo!), a pack of hot dogs and a small can of chicken. This is what we're having. Monday: Leftovers from the fish fry Tuesday: Grilled hamburgers and fries Wednesday: Sloppy joes, mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables (leave out 1 lb after browning for spaghetti) (save leftover sloppy joe mix) Thursday: Spaghetti, salad, garlic bread (save leftover spaghetti sauce) Friday: Eating with friends Saturday: L)Hot dogs with homemade chili (use leftover sloppy joe and spaghetti sauce) S)chicken tortilla casserole, refried beans, salad Sunday: L)crockpot roast w/gravy, potatoes, carrots, butterpeas, biscuits or cornbread ...
