Calling All Christians

My, what a great day it has been thus far! Ha, there is a part of me thinking I shouldn't think that so fast because the day isn't over! Do you ever do that? Borrow trouble instead of relaxing and enjoying something to the fullest?

So this morning we were outa here bright and early headed to the GuitarMan's collegetown. He is in the choir and they have been working on a big performance because today was preview day. Well, you can bet getting there on time with 3 small children was no easy feat! We even stopped on the way to help out a lady. It is so neat how God works. She was in another community headed in the wrong direction trying to get to a whole different town. We got behind her and The FisherMan said, "She has no clue where she's at." I wasn't even paying any attention and about the time he said that, she waved us ahead. We pulled alongside and asked if we could help in some way and, sure enough, she was almost in tears! She was attempting to follow the map but I have no idea how she wound up where she did! So we stopped and I wrote out directions for her and The Fisherman made sure she understood. Then we were on our merry way positive that we would be so late. But we made it with 45 minutes to spare.

The worship was so good. There was congregational praise and worship and the choir sang. The President preached a short message and managed to put in some very strong points. One thing that stood out is that we all have a calling. All these teenagers were there today searching for theirs.

It got me to thinking. If you are a Christian you have a calling on your life. All Christians are called Christians. What is your calling? No, not your job. Your calling. What is it that God has prepared you for? What does he have for you to do in your life that no one else could do as effectively in that time and place or that person's life? Have you given it any thought? If so, have you embraced your calling? Give it your best! Live out that calling minute by minute. God has placed people in your life, in your path, for you to reach for Him. Be His hands, His feet, His mouthpiece. Don't get caught up thinking it has to be big and grand to be a "calling." You say you want to be a teacher or minister? Be a missionary? Do you have children? Do you have unbelieving friends or family? There's your classroom. There's your mission field. Look around you! There are so many ways to serve the Lord right where He has you! Stop waiting for the perfect scenario to be in place for you to do something for Him. Stop complaining about what you have or don't have and recognize that He has a purpose in you being in that place at that time. Stop waiting for the people around you to be good enough, or holy enough, for God to enter in. He is already there but He might just be waiting on YOU to realize it! Look for Him. He is already with you and He has a calling for you!

The Season of Pregnancy (updated)

I know. I have been neglecting this blog. Horribly. That's not the only thing that has been thrown by the wayside lately! It is only for a season though. Pregnancy means you must be patient with yourself and accept that sometimes you must let things slide. That also means that you have to plan in order to conserve your energy. I know if I am going somewhere later today then I don't need to rush around and try to get a lot done in the morning. Priorities must be in order. Although the morning sickness is better it isn't totally gone at this point. Whoever named it that anyway? The main thing I have been dealing with is fatigue. My blog shows it. My laundry shows it. My house shows it. Ack, everywhere shows it! I simply do not have the energy to do the bending up and down required to truly clean up, do laundry, and the vacuuming/sweeping etc. It's quite depressing actually! So I do a little here, do a little there. I manage the necessities such as homeschooling, cooking, ...

Why the Hurry?

We are indulging in an early lunch today after having a late breakfast. I would say it is due to growth spurts but I'm not sure. Unfortunately mine tend to be outward rather than upward so I am hoping that isn't the case for Mama! :P As I went towards the kitchen to fix lunch LadyBug frantically called, "Wait, wait! Mama look at my picture!" She had worked so hard to color a kitty in a coloring book. The head was royal blue and the body orange while it sported a jaunty red bow. (Just so you Auburn fans know it...there was some Crimson Tide thrown in there, ha!) I praised her for staying in the lines while in my head I thought of how an adult would have had to made it look more real. Have you noticed that about children? The majority of young children never color a picture to look real. They use different colors all over. FlowerChild used to color pictures of people and animals with a pattern of up to 8 colors at a time! Have you ever seen a plaid horse? How about a st...

Happenings Around Here

Well, another dog lost. :( This time it wasn't a car but something more sinister...a rattlesnake. She was bitten yesterday evening and lasted about 4 1/2 hours. Poor little Chi-Chi is only about 6 pounds or so and just couldn't take the venom. LadyBug seems to be taking it the hardest among the children. Our Bassett Hound, Daisy, and Chi-Chi are the best of friends and poor Daisy has spent the day looking for her. So sad. The GuitarMan has finished his semester and is home now. I introduced him to Pilates this morning. We worked out together. Ha ha, now if that wasn't a sight I just don't know what would be! He has a new found admiration for it now though. Afterwards I cut the FisherMan's hair outside under the plum tree while the children played in the pool. He asked if there was a way we could be any more redneck. I had plenty of ideas on that if he wanted but he didn't want to take part lol. Apparently it was a rhetorical question. This week was one of apprec...
